please do some research on FIFA's law.
a player can play for his/her current country (the country whose she/she is a citizen of), or the country of his/her heritage.
examples of such players are:
-Aaron Hunt (English citizen but play for Germany).
-Kaka (Brazil/Italian citizen) but play for Brazil.
-Drogba, Frech citizen but play for Ivory Coast.
-Owen hargreaves, canadian citizen but plays for England.
-and many more.
