I`m Lithuanian, this is where the legend about latvians being horse-heads came from:In ~1950 when Lithuanians would go to Latvia to buy food, Latvians would sell horsemeat sausage. In the market Latvian would offer ‘zirgo gāla’(horsemeat in Latvian) to Lithuanian."Gāla" sounds very similar to "galva" (head in Lithuanian). But it`s just a legend, noone knows how this friendly "name calling" actually started. As I said, it`s friendly, so don`t be mad. By the way, Latvia is our favorite neighbor:)
