Neil is an audio artist. He looks for ways to make the drums better. If I were to get into being a drummer. I could see him as being the first influence. Along with a handful of others.
If you guys have ever studied Neil's lyrics, you know where his influences in objectivism come from. I'm no disciple of anyone, but I'm running a congressional campaign that will be based on those same philosophies. I'd be much obliged if you'd all critique my video's for my campaign.

Even Ginger Baker was slaying peart w/ Toad back in the late 60's. Tank by palmer puts Neil in about high school and Mule by ian paice has peart as a sophomore in Jr College
Carl Palmer and Ian Paice are good drummers in the style they play, but I would say that both Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy are better drummers from a technique stand point. Carl Palmer and Ian Paice just play grooves and play fast while staying in a 44 time. Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy can both play very fast and play in different time signatures and that makes them better drummers, period.

Ok, Lars is a good drummer but he's not in the same league as Neil. Neil is unique and the best drummer in the world. He has stamina, finesse, precision, he's very innovative in his drumming and he cannot be compared to any other drummers.

He doesn't claim to be a jazz drummer. Weckl and S.Smith aren't as good as they are w/out practicing that STYLE for years. Neil hasn't practiced that style for years so why expect him to be at their level? Just like a guy that wants to play Neil's style can expect to be at his level for a long long time.
