What a great lineup this was. Holdsworth on gtr. An absolute master. If there is a better pop band around with that level of musicianship please tell me.
I hope Allan actually made some money with these guys, but I doubt it. I know his mate Gary got him into it but he didn't belong at all...obviously. hell, they even mixed his guitar solos like they were background.
He is shown in the booklet of the album, mentioned as a member of the band, given credits for his contributions, so I don't think Holdsworth never saw a penny for it, Mark King is an Honest man.
Wow, thanks for posting this. I had seen the link for it but always thought I saw it before. Great stuff! Mike is right, and LEVEL 42 is still unfashionable to this day. And still there's no one like them.
Go to 2:09 for Holdsworth love!

I saw them playing at a little bar in the Isle of Wight in 1980, they were brilliant even then.

True, a shame Holdsworth did not play a more important role on Guaranteed.
This is first time I saw Holdsworth with level 42. I wish there were songs in full versions.

Actually Mark King and Alan Holdsworth never got along as the story was told and so I presume that is why Holdsworth wasn't around long.

Holdsworth's tell tale legato riffing is all over the album but most evident on "a kinder eye"
