A Tahoe/Yukon is rated to tow up to 8500lbs. as a 2WD and 8200lbs. as a 4WD. There's no replacement for displacement, especially when it comes to towing. In comparison, the Range Rover HSE is rated for 7716lbs., which is close, but no cigar. You already know my opinion on mechanical lockers vs. traction assistance devices, but with a Z71 package, a Tahoe is just as well. No technological gizmos, but I'll trust proven mechanics over electronics any day. The RRC would beat either off-road, though.

Apparently you didn't read my comment. Again, with the towing package the 5.3 can tow 8500lbs. in 2WD form and 8200 in 4WD form. It's Z71, not Z21, and it can be had with not only the 5.3, but the 6.2, too. The G80 locker comes standard on ALL Tahoes/Yukons, regardless of engine or trim level. A locker is only optional on the Range Rover HSE. Yes, the RR has more ground clearance in off-road mode, as I'd hope it would with such an off-road pedigree, but it's also a few hundred pounds heavier.

I'm going off of the manufacturers' own specifications from their websites. The Tahoes/Yukons have over 9 inches of clearance at lowest point, which isn't too shabby for a vehicle with off-road not being a top priority. And again, independent suspension doesn't really flex (they have IFS), so I don't see how you could use that term for either vehicles. If it weren't for electronics, a Range Rover would get stuck quickly. I'll agree that from the factory, a Range Rover is better suited off-road.

Again, there's no flex with independent suspension, period. There's travel, not flex. Also again, off-roading isn't a high priority with the Tahoe/Yukon. A Land Rover would most definitely be a Land Rover without stupid electronic control systems. That'd be like saying a Defender isn't a Land Rover since it doesn't have electronics to do things for the driver, and the Defender is more of a Land Rover than any of the wannabe vehicles they make now.

yup, range rover was owned by bmw (they developed this model) but sold to ford before release, but they continued to supply the engines, until ford being the retards they are started putting crappy jag engines 2006 onward, so if you get one get a 2002-2005 range rover.

An L322 range rover weighs nearly 4 tons, the bmw 4.4 V8 is a torquey engine and for what it is, it's bloody quick for a vehicle of that weight. I much prefer it over the new jaguar engined range rovers.
