When social security was created, life expectancy was such that on average people collected for a few years. Now we live longer meaning we collect longer, add in Medicare and other entitlements since FDR and is it any surprise we are running into shortfalls? If Marcus wants to believe that this movie is just a conspiracy by the establishment to get you to sacrifice and work longer, fine. But he has no evidence, his opinions are based on his own biases.

How hard we work to drink the kool-aid. Social Security was set up with a plan, the flaw in the plan was that it accumulated money. Politicians near a pile of money. They've been spending it, and now they say the system is in trouble. They say it's not working. They keep removing the heart telling us the body isn't working. The system is flawed--But we elect the flaw. Return to the original plan with the couple of adjustments (Trust Fund) and we're good to go. -- Marcus

You don't know what you're talking about. There not saying we SHOULD work longer, etc. they're saying that we are inevitably going to have to work longer because we haven't managed spend approximately what we make. The gov't officials (who are not billionaire's but pawns of the billionaire's) were tasked with managing the system proactively, sternly and objectively to guard against these collapses. While I don't find anyone to be evil I place the blame squarely on the gov't innept shoulders.

Not because they over-regulated but the opposite. Let's also try to keep things in perspective. Our quality of life was artificially high, and now needs to adjust down. We need not panic but learn to live less frivolous, consumption driven lives. Keep your head up, this isn't the apocalypse, we'll be right as rain after the adjustment. I'm not sure who in the production of this movie, or it's hardback predecessor you're accusing of being some kind of deceptive prfiteering elitist. From what i understand, this movie is simply pointing out the united states sticky situation.

"Bail out our miss-managed economy" - Someone correct me if im wrong, but the producers never make this suggestion. However, they do suggest that this is digging us deeper into debt (which it obviously is)

Don't be fooled about what is behind this documentary- it is a call to the American people to pay attention to what is going on within our government. The U.S. is a democracy and it is time for Americans to start taking on the responsibility and requiring fiscal constraints on gov. spending.
