Vernon Davis turned out to be an excellent tight end. Also one thing Alex Smith CAN say is unlike Joe Montana and Steve Young he never had a veteran quarterback to be back up for and train him. I think that's a big deal and maybe it takes him twice as long. I just think that with the way the 49ers luck is we will trade him and then he will all of a sudden turn into the quarterback we needed.

Personally I was gunning for Aaron Ridgers in the 05 draft. Smith may proove us all wrong. I'd like to point out a few things though. In the beginning of Peyton Mannings career he threw a record breaking amount of interceptions, as did Bret Favre. Both of these guys became great.
