the tempo of Duel Of Faith oscillates between 158-164 in 4/4 this one is 2x slower (115-120 id guess) it sounds like an old tank wagon.... but still it is outstanding for people even try to play this piece. :)
I think its a great version actually. I play cello, I remember all through my youth I so much wanted to play just anything from star wars but was never able to (something about it not being fair that everyone had to pay £20 for a music book!) I'll get to live this dream one day but am really very rusty now! So anyway well done.
I love the star wars music! I play the cello, and I got to play this with the Richmond Youth Symphony. We actually took it a lot faster, like it is in the movie. It's EXTREMELY hard to keep that pace! Your fingers get very tired (the cello part is just the dum dum dadada thing the whole time) but the end result makes all the pain, and future carpal tunnel I'm sure, worth it. I personally like the faster version better, but it is very challenging.
Please go to watch, rate and comment the 4 rearrangements for 3 violines of Star Wars themes (Main Title, Flag Parade, Duel of Fates and Imperial March) by searching :
way too slow, and after the brass into the strings are supposed to quick and light, not heavy and accented and sluggish; you can't really change one of john williams' masterpieces and expect it to be even close to the original. sorry, but even though it sounds (ie pitch and tone) fine, it is certainly not "duel of the fates"
Not every performance needs to sound like the original. Just play your soundtrack. We're in a concert here where an arrangement can digress and recorded with a video camera its not optimal anyway. I liked it.
I recall playing this in my high school orchestra. To those thinking it's not Duel of the Fates, this is a combination of all the compositions John Williams composed for SW Ep1 TPM
Considering some of the orchestras I've heard and me playing this particular one, they did a pretty good job.
I agree. It isn't like the one in the movie it is a little slower. We played it at our school in John Williams Movie Adventures and it sounded like this. I actually prefer it to the other one.
Yes, it was supposed to be like that. They have a choir (of course), but the arrangements were made for orchestra only, and they weren't made by anyone from the orchestra or working with the orchestra, but by an american composer.
Come on, don't blame musicians for everything. Maybe it is supposed to be like that, according to the arrangement! They sure miss a choir to add on some drama, but I pretty much like it this way. These people can do a lot faster. Check their "Pirates of the Caribbean" piece! It was a GREAT CONCERT!
i would actually like the red russian army choir do this one.

They outweigh the in my humble opinion awful slow tempo.

It sounds good with the trombones, but I'd rather the choir sing their part...
