A previous "guest", really an actor playing controversial Austrian politician Kurt Waldheim, was dropped down an opening in the platform and disappeared, after he was "aborted" by Dame Edna. Connery in a self deprecating way was implying that Dame Edna may want to do the same with him. A good sport.

I remember watching this on TV. Before Connery came on Dame Edna introduced Kurt Waldheim as her next guest. As he came down the stairs he fell through a trapdoor that Dame Edna opened by pulling one of the levers by her seat.

I remember Cliff Richard getting out of his seat when it happened. He fell for it! It wasn't the real Waldheim.

That's why Connery crouched down as he was going down the steps as though he was falling through the same trapdoor.
