Wow what a bunch of snobs. I work in a hotel nice hotel and we usetriple sec unless specified by the customer or a particular drink. A cosmo is totally fine with triple sec...
For a high-end hotel you are using some cheap ingredients. I'd be using either Cointreau or Grand Mariner, NOT Triple Sec. And your citrus vodka should be Belvedere Citrus Vodka or Grey Goose Citrus Vodka, NOT Absolut. Your cocktail is only as good as the ingredients you put into it.
@plitwit Don't be an asshat, the original Triple Sec and Absolute are absolutely fine premium brands. The price range is almost the same. Belvedere and Grey Goose are showoff brands, they take no place in flavoring this drink.
Using Gran Mariner in Cosmo is a disaster. The use of vodka aint that particularly bound to one type or brand. Plain vodka is excellent. For me, the flavoured vodka's are just for the good looking bottles. (same with rum). Any decent bartender can compensate for the subtile flavour, using fresh fruit.

you just talk for nothing , you realy dont know how to make a drink, let me tell you when ever you make any drink you should have make the ( GARNISH FIRST) then start making the drink ,
Is a flamed organge zest something modern that has been added? I also thought it was supposed to be double strained so there are no ice bits in there and it looks smooth and clear
@allancuevasuk well.. the flamed orange is important as all the ingredients and is not a modern thing added at all .... no need to double strain, even more.. the result should not be clear at all! this is shown when u used fresh lime juice not artificial (has to be cloudy), You can search a vid on youtube from dale degroff which this great mixologist bartender McMillian usually mentions as his friend.. hes the one completing the recipe for the cosmo! so he must be right ;)
He kinda went too much into detail about the history, but other then that i thought this was a great vid. Im most impressed with the way he measures everything.
Chris McMillian you ought to have your own YouTube channel!

Absolut Citron. A citrus vodka.
You can find instructions for how to make your own citrus vodka online.

There are lots of other high quality vodkas you can use mate.
Personaly i use Wyborowa Exquisite.
Not a big fan of the flavoured vodkas at all (unless you have done a homemade flavoured one with fresh fruit)

@plitwit he uses triple sec to refer to cointreu or any similar gredient. check the magarita video.

Do not use a generic triple sec...use cointreau or citronage...cointreau is more popular.

I like this with Ruby Red Grapefruit and Tangerine Juice!!
or try cranberry/pomegranate, or just straight pomegranate juice...
