The easiest way to beat this scenario is to leave the kraken alone at the beginning, build a temple or two, and put all your villies on wood and favor and make as many centaurs as possible.

Also, use rain to to prevent the comp from using lightning storm (on Titan difficulty) when the Atlantean army is 1 league away.

Do you mean where can assign a group of people a number? I think the default hotkey for that is ctrl+whatever number you want.

If you spare a kraken for a while then the enemies will wait until its dead before they attack, giving you some time to build up your forces. Personally, I prefer using a watch-tower to keep it from going after humans or attacking harbors
