one day, we found a dead cricket and a black creepy thingy swimming in my dog's water bowl, and then a few weeks later, I squished a cricket and one of those nasty parasites crawled out of it. It was so gross!!!!!
im not sure if its the same but yes it can infect humans. cause slower reaction time and paranoya and in women increases the mood for sexual desire wich i dont htink is that bad haha
The worm does not control its mind.. your retarded author. The cricket commits suicide because of his organs being crushed upwards towards his head.. the pain is why he kills himself.
Basically, you are the closest to being correct. It's a genetic chemical which instructs the cricket to find water, like how our genes instruct our body to grow legs or arms. It's so cruel but so cool hahaha.
Oh, and they're called "Horsehair worms" because it was once believed that hairs from a horses' tail would fall into a water trough, and suddenly spring to life!
No, it isn't a nematode. It's a "Nematomorph", also known as a "Horsehair Worm". It IS a parasite, but not on humans! I've caught a few, and they ARE pretty scary to handle! Harmless, but scary-acting, anyway! Some sources say they actually DO influence hosts to go towards water, because that's where they breed. Again, they are NOT a bother to humans, and can be found in things like farm water troughs, small ponds, or about any type of calm water area. (I raise many invertebrates!)
I'm not joking, the reason I found this video was because I just killed a cricket in my dorm room and when I threw it into the toilet a worm came out of it. It was quite a show for everyone in my hall.
lol if i could use mind control on living animals first i would mind control the president and force him to eat horse sh*t!!! and then eat his brain to make him retarded!

Dear god, have mercy! Make me un-see that! O_O
Anyway, I don't think the parasite (a nematode, BTW)"foced" the cricket to kill himself. Bugs aren't smart enough to avoid a pool. Just fell, and the worm abandoned the sinking ship.
OH DEAR GOD.

Chslosers 3 years ago
no, the worm controls his mind, the worm make him drown because its the worms natural habitat
laXman13579 3 years ago
Well, it stimulates a chemical into the cricket's mind causing it suicide within water, where the hairworm's offspring dwell in.

zaxjackson636 3 years ago
@lawrencexmoon It "controls" the nerva system, doesnt it? Making it go to water so it can evolve, since it's larva stage is aquatic.
