This Book is the BEST book I've read my whole life . It changed me , it really did . I cried more than 3 times while reading it . It's really a sad story , and I'm glad that Dave grew up to be a succesful man , and a good one too .

I love ALL of his books , he knows how to express his feelings in every detail , in every word and in every sentence he wrote .

What's beautiful about his story is that after everything he's gone through, you would think he'd be the most screwed-up boy in the world, with plenty of good reason that everyone would understand.

Instead, he embraced a good life, and became a good man, and has become a good father. He is a shining example of being able to rise above the hand life dealt you.

And kids whine if they get their PS2 taken away for a day. Or adults if they didn't "feel very loved" growing up. Bah.

Dave turned his lifes negative events into a positive life that now is full of love and forgiveness. As an adult who has suffer child abuse (in extremes of sexual abuse) I understand where he comes from, why he did what he has done, and the forgivness towards his mom he has allowed. By forgiving her, he let go of the last shreds of his horrible past!

i enjoy reading but i'm definitely not considered an avid or fast reader. this book, which i read when i was quite young (7th or 8th grade) was absolutely amazing. very graphic and scary and heartbreaking, but i read the whole thing one day... partly because i wanted to know what happened, and partly because i needed to know what happened because i couldnt stop in the middle with the boy in such pain. i needed to know that at the end, he was going to be ok.
