  • My names Giovanni lol

  • Review - ok

    Critic - ok

    Pokemon - ok

    Pokemon games - sucks ass!

    ...imho =)

  • 4:45 scares the crap out of me. look at its eyes!

  • its supossed to be funny??

  • movies suck on pokemon games are beter seres and movies were a fucking fall trust me I know others and don't

  • Pocket Monsters was a copyright infringement on toy brand Monster in my Pocket, hence why it was shortened.

  • WHERE IS THE ACTUAL FUCKING CHANNEL FOR THIS GUY?

it's like a sea of fan uploads.

  • @WhatAboutTheProles Pretty sure he aint on YouTube, there would be copyright problems up the ass

  • @WhatAboutTheProles He has his own website called that guy with the glasses

  • @WhatAboutTheProles There is a TGWTG Youtube channel called Channel Awesome. It isn't run by Nostalgia Critic, because he doesn't have enough time on his hands to run it. It does have most of his videos on it.

  • Much as I love the critic, I have to say some of these points are invalid. First he complains he can't figure out which one is the first movie. Then he complains that the first one is called "the first movie". Well obviously it needs to be called the first movie if people can't figure out which one is the first one. And remember this is a dub of a Japanese movie that made a lot more sense, had different names and wasn't as...stupid.

  • Actually I never knew in what world pokemon played in. Even if I was one of their biggest fans. :D

  • The sad part... his points are valid D:

Still love it. Nostalgia Critic and Pokmon.

  • um....i should point out that japan had a different opening that sort of explains a bit more. it was deleted from the US movie.

  • 2:45 Butterfrees.

  • So if i go to minnesota will i find pokemon?

  • The version I remember had both Pikachu's Vacation AND the deleted opening scene.

  • 2:22 if u ever watch anything and that comes up, RUN!

  • one annoying thing about the pokemon movies is that someone ''dies'' and come back later, and its been like 22 times! cmon...Professor Layton games have this kinda stuff. but when someone dies, IT DIES.

  • i never really had trouble following this movie but like he said i was in the pokemon generation

  • meowth "for some reason he can speak english"????

the damn cat taught himself how to speak XD

  • Comment removed

  • I remember watching this movie, but i was probobly too little to get the minnisota crack

  • the original Japanese version of Pokemon was a whole lot better..even had a diffident beginning and kind of a deferent plot ...the dub version however was changed so much that it sucked...watch the original and you'll see what i mean

  • I didn't watch past DP076 YET, but I'm watching DP these days.

  • Funny how, at this point in the series, Giovanni hasn't even been introduced, so if you only followed the cartoon on which this movie is based you have no idea who he is either!

  • lol arceus is the strongest

  • I grew up watching this show but I got way to much addicted to it.....i stoped watching the show after some time but I couldn't stop playing those games until I was 14 :l

  • If he thinks the original show is bad (which it really isn't), he should see the new show (which DOES suck).

  • @timeparadox888 Funny, because DP DOESN'T suck. Take off your nostalgia filters before saying everything that you watched as not a child sucks.

  • @ivantuga2 Okay, it doesn't SUCK, it's just worse than the original show. Mainly because the original show tries to invoke emotions, and it succeeded sometimes, like with Pikachu almost leaving and Butterfree actually leaving. The new show doesn't try that nearly as much.

  • @timeparadox888 No? DP did have emotional episodes, like DP051 (but needs that you watch the previous part of the saga), for example, DP054, DP073 (I didn't watch past DP076). It had also one TR nostalgia episode, where they sang their original motto, with the "Double Trouble" music. I know it also had a very weird episode with an evil Togepi, which by its nature resembles a lot of Kanto episodes, later on. It was also the best so far in character development.

  • If he did his research he wouldn't have done a stupid review but go figure someone who waste's his time watching movies and thinks he's some fictional character makes a dumb review

  • DONT DISS IT and most people know it because they watch the tv show and so they know The where r we is still one i dont know?

  • dont diss pokemon i grew up with that shit (although i admit it sucks now)

  • I Think The Nostalgia critic should review Yu-Gi-Oh The Movie, or BeyBlade Ferce Battles.

  • he should do yu-gi-oh

  • @devilkhan8 That'd be the ultimate!

  • @thatrealycoolguy No, that's bad, it's 4Kids dubs like this that give anime shows a bad name!

  • If they're talking about minnesota, they have to be in the real world... You know what, though, like, all of the pokemon regions are based of regions in japan.

  • the reason its called pokemon and not pocket monsters (its still pocket monsters in japan, sometimes pokemon) is because around the time of its dub there was a crappy collector toy series called "monster in my pocket" going around, and nintendo of america couldnt risk copyright problems. hope this helped ^^

  • @UberPoofyNintendoChi Its pronounced Poketta Monsuta In japan :)

  • @TheEliteNerd thats because of accents -_-

  • @UberPoofyNintendoChi OBVIOUSLY. YOU REALLY THINK I DIDN'T KNOW THAT??????

  • @TheEliteNerd well i thought either A: you didnt know B: you were a weeaboo or C: you were another dumb kid on the net.

  • and It was also a comic book.

  • WTF!!! That comment that Ash just made with the vikings was a BIG ERROR in judgement for the writers. Minnisota doen't even exist in the Pokemon Universe. The region is called Kanto. URGGHHHHHH!!!!! EPIC FAIL!!!!!

  • hilarious

  • You know, 4Kids!

  • @Tuckerscreator LOL!

  • Don't complain about the lack of an explation, because of this one's lack of explanation, becuase in the second movie they added an explanation as to what pokemon were and sense then, EVERY FUCKING MOVIE HAD THE SAME GODDAMN EXPLANATION! IF YOU'RE WATCHING A POKEMON MOVIE, THEN YOU KNOW WHAT POKEMON ARE!

  • Oh, 4Kids, That explains why this sucks! Your probably watching a English-dubbed version that has all traces of Japanese culture removed!

  • @Deblano Good, Japanese culture sucks.

  • This is the main reason why my friends hate Anime, cause of stupid shit like this :D

Of course loved it as a kid though :)

  • lulz.

  • this guy really sucks man, like this REALLY is not funny what so ever, how anyone could ever enjoy watching this blows my mind.

  • Trolling Pokemon Fans are we now?

  • @FinalMasterM good job

  • Oh boy, here we go.

    STOP YELLING YOU FUCKING DICKSHIT.

  • OMG! Rasta Tommy Wiseau makes a cameo at 4:02!

  • really, if you haven't grown up with pok'emon you probably won't like it

  • The terrible tv show and movies ruined the reputation of the great games

  • In Japan they never called it "The First Movie" but by the time the movie was released in the United States they were already about to air the second movie.

  • Some things I'd like to clear up: The reason they don't just use "Pocket Monsters" is because of another toy line called "Monster in my Pocket" and Pokemon just stuck.

Also, there was a scene that gave us background info on Poke-World (or whatever ya call it), that was taken out by the dubbers to dive head first into the "story". Fuck you, 4Kids, fuck you very much >:(

And where's M. Bison when ya need him?!

  • Comment removed

  • i luv pokemon first movie its a gr8 movie

  • It's pokemon, so it's ok that the movie and nothing about it makes absolutely no sense :p

  • I never was a fan of pokemon at all but I did like this movie even though I still think this review is pretty funny, lol

  • I'm from Minnesota and I'm not a Viking T.T

  • tell him tho reiw all oter movies now

  • is this mr. sweeny??

  • the funny thing is if your a big pokemon(like me) you know that it takes place in the Kanto region which is an real region in Japan so it takes place in Japan so how do they know WHAT THE HECK THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS ARE

  • Wait...did Ash actually say that they mostly live in Minnesota?? Since when did Minnesota even exist in this movie's universe???

  • They mostly live in Minnesota!

    ...Wow.

  • with all the scientist burning alive inside! YOU KNOW, FOR KIDS! ROFL!

  • I think this is one of the worst episodes. Not because I like Pokemon, but because NC was looking for flaws a lot of the time.

  • "They mostly live in Minnesota!"

    SINCE WHEN?!

  • This guy sounds like Timmy from WKUK.

  • I like the Pokemon franchise to an extent as I liked it as a child, but I'm not a crazy fan and can take this review in good humor. Very nice. You are a funny man.

The movies were I believe however, made mainly for the fans. Obviously the fans will know what's going on in the story.

  • POKE[T]MON[STER]=POKEMON

    DUHH RETARD omfgitsbob

  • I've never liked Pokemon, the anime is cheesy as hell and the games bore me. This review is hilarious.

  • @talzmistle Pokemon is better than you.

  • @Supermaster4567 LOL! haha so owned

  • LOL this is phenomenal! And the guy who does it sounds like the one dude from the Whitest Kids U Know.

  • This movie i now hate i live in minesota and i am part scandanavian.

  • My friend collects Pokemon cards, and plays the game, and watches the movies... and I have no clue what in the world it has to do with anything.

  • In Japan it was called Poket Monster

  • Fuck me. I thought I was irate.

  • 04:00

    Tommy Wiseau is Jamaican?

  • wow. heres another fuck up. Mewtwo strikes back is the first movie

  • DUDE U R AWSOME !!!!! ROCK ON

  • DAMMIT, this guy sucks so much...

  • @macr0machine pokemon sucks so do you.

  • I grew up with pokemon (at least when it started) and hated the movies. The TV show was lame (mostly thanks to 4kids) and the movies were even lamer. I was in it for the cards and video games.

  • Informative.

  • Problem is, Doug didn't grow up with Pokemon. It's hard to appreciate Pokemon if you don't know anything about it. I don't blame him, I'd have a similar reaction if I had to review something I knew nothing about.

  • you are stupid its not that bad this actually the best in the series of film I loved this movie as a little kid.

  • @jamvan1000 doug is awsome yu suck.

  • anyone who doesnt reconize the following words has not had a childhood!i wanna be the very best....ooh whats that? pokeball goooo, prepare for trouble, pika chuuuu, pokemon pokemon po ke mon!!!!!!!!!!! if you aint down with that, or something doesnt click in your head, then i dont know whether to punch you or just laugh! xDD

  • I have to disagree with NC,I grew up with pokemon when i was little and I absoulatly loved it before they over did it,Its the same with this movie I mean it was made for small kids who understand pokemon .Its kind of like making an anime into a movie you have to watch some of the anime to know whats going on in the movie or understand what it is but i guess alot of people who have seen this video has already covered that

  • @Zxeron0 Exactly. Couldn't say it better. +1

  • 4:44 Can't hire better writers to create a better background story

Actually, MewTwo had a very touching past in the Japanese movie, English cut the beginning out which is a great disappointment

  • He pretty much wraps up the story of the first season right in the first minute XDDD

  • LOL IT WAS LICENCED BY NIINTIIINDOO XD

  • lol if u watched this when Pokemon came out on t.v and the cards and games. that is where this movie(s) started to come out. Who its intended for.

  • I'd love to see doug review the rest of the pokemon movies. That would be hilarious.

  • @7MukuroRealm That's an idea, we should ask him to do that on the site!

  • Ey! Would you like to play some pokemon!

  • i grew up with pokemon and i find this offenceve

  • I just nostalgia'd. Hard.

  • Holy shit, i never even caught that when he was talking about the Minnesota Vikings. Lol

  • The japanese people call it pocket monster. The U.S called it pokemon.

  • I think this movie should only be seen by fans, otherwise you will have no clue as to what the hell's going on!

  • It's weird watching the Nostalgia Critic, the person who I generally trust as an expert, be a total Noob with Pokemon. Than again this movie was pretty much for the fans, so I can't blame him for not doing that well.

  • What was the Minnesota line meant to be about? Some sort of playful insult snuck in by the writers?

  • @icecreamscuseme well if u ever watch the show ull realize that the scripts are nothing but double entendres ,really bad puns, and those kind of low-brow jokes to try and get cheap laughs which just fail epically lol...i love the show but the writing is nothing short of corny for sure

  • i grew up with pokemon i loved it

  • Pokemon was a great movie.

  • What? Ash, Misty and Brock each had distinctive personalities...what the fuck???

  • Also, has he seen the mini film the Origin of Mewtwo?

  • I love this film and as funny as he is, NC makes it out to be a lot worse than it actually is I feel.

  • the pokemon alarm clock is called pocket monsters

  • About when the Pokemons (except TR's Meowth of course) only repeat their names, that was the main reason why my friend, who's a serious Pokemon fan, hates the anime.

  • this movie kicks ass

  • ...if he had seen the episodes and "the origin of mewtwo" that was cut out from the original movie release, this movie would've made A LOT of sense to him. Other than that, I found this review hilarious, and this is coming from a guy who loves Pokemon.

  • they're being chased by these 2 gay people, haha

  • Shut up dude, this movie was awesome!!!

  • swedish vikings heck yeah!

  • i have pokemon 2000 :p

  • this is like Avatar

  • 4Kids...0_o

    IT'S A TRAP!!!

  • The reason why it isn't called Pocket Monster is because when the first games got an English version there was already a franchise called monster in my pocket so they had to go with the word Pokemon instead.

  • This guys a dick, I grew up with Pokemon and loved the movie, though I realize that it isnt some fucking cinematographic masterpiece. Still, he's funny, ill give him that. He doesnt say anything that isnt true, lol.

  • @thefilmerdoo Ive also grew up with this, and I used to be ubsessed. Now I am trying other things like halo. Anyway, this vid was a good one, and I won't deny that.

  • Mewtwo Strikes Back IS the first movie.

  • I enjoy NC's reviews a lot and this one is funny, but I definitely loved Pokemon as a kid <3

  • Apologies to JAMACANS? Hmm....never heard of em.

  • EY! Would you like to play some poker man?

  • I used to looooove this movie

  • If you ever watched the pokemon tv series youd understand it a whole lot better.

  • @mojomojo3011 well thats the point you shouldn't have to watch the anime to "understand it"

  • They mostly live in Minnesota.

  • Gonna be honest, loved this shit when I was younger.

  • Sorry, but shitting on Pokemon is like shitting on all our childhoods. Fuck you

  • I usually agree with the NC, but i have to disagree with him on this one.

Personally im a fan of the pokemon original series, and i thought the movie was decent (it was the only pokemon movie that i thought was any good). But i do feel that the movie neglects those who are not familiar with pokemon. Guess he's not an anime person.

  • this is just one of those moviess that i CANNOT hate... i grew u with this shit... i saw it with m friends when i was like 7... i still have the ancient mew card, the vhs tapes, the toys, and i DID cry when i first saw this movie and the infamous "bye bye butterfree" episode... i will always, ALWAYS love Pokemon. it is the very definition of childhood for just about anyone who gre up in the late 90's... but i still LOVE these reviews

  • @SonicSnail95 I have to agree. I grew up with Pokemon and it was a HUGE part of my childhood. Just thinking about watching the show when I was a little kid makes me happy. I still remember going to see this movie at the theaters and getting a Mewtwo dogtag. I had the tapes, the cards, toys, all of it. The whole franchise and what it meant to me when I was younger is something I will always remember. Nostalgia Critic is hilarious, but I will always have a soft spot for Pokemon.

  • @SonicSnail95 ur goddamn right.

  • @SonicSnail95 Thats nostalgia for you, it wont allow you to say a movie sucks when it does.

  • @SonicSnail95 yah i didnt even grow up with it and i love it

  • @SonicSnail95 dude u r a god among poke trainers i ll kiss the ground u walk upon

  • @SonicSnail95 thats how i feel. i grew up with pokemon too.

  • When i was younger i friggin' loved this movie. Today i can agree with NC's points but i will still love this movie as much as i did back in my Pokemon nerd days.

  • Everyone knows what pokemon is....where have you been?

  • wow on 1:13 mewtew strikes back looks just like fallout tactics front cover XD

  • I'm sorry i like this guy.

But he needs to look at some history first.....dear God! I Sounded like a Critic Myself!

    I Apoligiez!

  • NC Doesn't know that Pokémon was a Game before the Show.

Don't Spam me for this but if that's true why did he review it? I mean i like this guy. BUT!

When he reviews Movies based video games. It's like he doesn't know anything. Even he does he talks us like we don't know.

You know like: This guy is Ryu

Like duh! The White uniform is a dead givaway!

And there a sometimes like this: Mortal Kombat spelled with a K and not a C. Hasn't he read the title of game before he reviewed the Movie?

  • @pikminguy55 Well, he wouldn't have the opportunity to question the source material if he didn't!

  • @pikminguy55 well, there's a few reasons for that...

    A. not every one of his viewers are gamers (and not every viewer would know who Ryu is. i had to see the review a few times before i spotted him in the crowd shot)

    and

    B. white Mortal Kombat the game came out before the movie, its still a legitimate question why its spelled with a K...

    BECAUSE POOR LITERACY IS KEWL!

  • This guy is a douche. I'm laughing my ass off though, so kudos.

  • Pokemon was and still is gay. People who said they grow up with are gay.

  • @mrdouchdick2

    *BLEEP* YOU!

  • they mostly live in minnesota

lolz i forgot that part in the movie, probably flew over my head as a kid. i wonder what the original japanese dialogue was?

  • OMG u r soooo funny. I think Nostalgia Critic should reveiw another pokemon movie! I say he should reveiw Pokemon 3: The Mystery of the Unknow.

  • @lostlady39 He doesn't watch anime (apart from Cowboy Bebop)!

  • OMG i have this movie from when i was five! likke the exsact same thing the same movie same video casset! my parents wouldn't let me toss it because cuz they say "it is sentimental" i have the whole thing with the little short film deleted scene and all that stuff i loved it when i was like five till eight XD

  • aaah memories (im kinda glad too say that because every rewiew i have seen is about something i never have been apart of) (if you know what i mean)

  • As I Pokemon fan, i thought this review was hilarious. I still like the movie though. I watch it for my entertainment whether it sucks or not.

  • Hey, Nostalgia Critic! The original Pokemon show was called Pocket monsters! It was apparently too hard to say in english, though, so when it was dubbed, they shortened it. It was 4Kids's fault; blame them!

(Yes, I know you're not Nostalgia critic, but...I just had to say it!)

  • wait wait wait, so the people on youtube asked you to review a 10 year old animated movie based on a japanese kids cartoon based on a video game? i mean who the fuck is gay enough to ask for that when they're old enough to watch your videos? i mean i loved it when i was a kid, but if i watch it now it makes as much sense to me as it did to you.

  • "Nobody knows what a pokemon is!!!" Lolwut

  • In my opinion, you can't tell anything about Pokémon, if you haven't watched it as a child/ever. If you are, like 30-year old, and you see a Pokémon-movie for the first time, you probably don't care a shit about it. Why? Because it's for CHILDREN. I really like The Nostalgia Critic, but it's just useless to abuse a movie/pokémons, that you don't know ANYTHING about. I myself grew with Pokémon.

  • @Tiikeliify I agree!! I love Pokemon b/c I grew up on it :) I thought this was really funny though. NC didn't grow up on Pokemon...his loss!

  • Anyone ever seen the "Witchcraft" movie series? They have twelve movie sequels and the highest rating any of them is still LOWER than that of this movie on the Internet Movie Database. I wish someone would review those.

What's funny is that a ton of popular anime has had dozens of movies. Dragonball Z had SEVENTEEN movies and so did Crayon Shin-chan. Doroaemon has THIRTY. One Piece has 10. By comparison, the pokemon movies' longevity is actually ordinary by long running anime standards.

  • lets play some poker mon !

  • Personalitys

Ash: likes to rush ( I forgot the word for it)

    Misty: shemale

    Brok: a perverted asian guy

  • yopu suck fucking dick asshole

  • @poopdog33 Who is this "Yopu" of which you speak, and what does (s)he have to do with this video?

  • hehe I really loved the first Pokefilm

it by the way has a nice morale

it´s about tolerance and respekt for every Lifeform

but it´s right, you have to be a fan to just get it ^^

  • 4:00 XD
