It's food dammit. If we did a more humane, less painful way, I'm sure it would take longer. Causing the supply to slow down, raising the demand, and thus raising the prices. So the quicker they do it, and the more "supply" they have, the less it costs for us, the consumers. Lesson in some basic economics for you kids back home.
