If they could share healthcare half as good as they could share the METRO train, then we would be ok, but they can;t theyre problem is that they are selfish and think no one should be entitled to anything without working, not acknowledging the fact that not everyone can get a job, and many people have kids to feed as well. First up, that 37 ranking is almost ten years old, and a WHO ranking of some sort of concept of fairness, not effectiveness. It deliberately favours the countries that utilize a social democratic model. And it is uncivilized to say that not only do those who haven't earned it have some sort of right to medical coverage, but also that it is the obligation of those who have earned it to provide it to those who haven't. It is uncivilized to use the power of the state to rob one to give to another.

The countries mentioned above are being bled white by universal medical despite all the accounting tricks used to make it look effective. I haven't looked into the Netherlands system, but am aware of contraversies there on the subject of euthenasia in light of the cost of care for the elderly. Also, the Poles, Czechs and others tell us we'd be insane to go in that direction.

Actually, the Poles and Czechs think our health care system sucks and we're crazy for putting up with it. I lived in the Czech Republic. The Czechs have exactly the system that people are talking about establishing here -- public and private insurance coexist and compete in the same market. It works very well. Nobody is running away from it. There are problems, but it's a million times better than here.

After the show, CNN talked to McCain, who said Obama was wrong to effectively call out Palin (as "some politicians") for her claims about the "death board". Under questioning, he admits there won't be any such boards, but doesn't say anything about her being wrong to make the attacks in the first place. Maybe he should have called her out directly, since he's being accused of it anyway.

The Progressives need to get their act together and start fighting back. The Repubs have labeled them as Nazi, socialist, marxist, abortionist, atheist, etc., and they just say "hey guys, let's stop the smears". They need to start saying "guess what morons, you're a bunch of liars, and we are calling you out every time you do... because the cheapshots are OVER"
