@SNOWBOARDER1SAM...well the only reason it lags is because of your cpu...it's an AMD athlon, you should go for AMD phenom quad core..anything AMD phenom 965 and above will work fine. your ram is good...but is it DDR2 OR DDR3? you should go for DDR3, and graphic card is set for now!! hope it helps

as people have said, that Nvidia 9100 is bottlenecking your system. I'll assume your quad core is an intel model, cos AMD quad cores have some performance issues.

Go grab a decent graphics card (Nvidia 9800 or faster) and 4 Gig of RAM.

Want to take simming to the next level? consider trackIR, then voice control software. There is a particular one you could try for free. It's called "Multi Crew Experience", and it rocks. You need a headset with microphone though. :-))

and im getting only around 25 fps and if im lucky 30 but in a city area down to 10 or 15.?? i dont get this game

@wipeitup Yea, this game is more CPU based...graphics matter, but not as much as the cpu...but normally people have a Core i7 running @ 4.00 GHz and also only get about 30 fps. You have a good computer, the game is just wierd, but FSX doesnt require 60 fps, it runs fine with 10-15:)

and when i fly over new york or most large cities my fps drops like a tarts knickers so FSX rapes my pc, i dont see how your 2.16 ghz dual core, 4gb ram and 9800gtx can possibly rape fsx, raping it is having everything maxxed out and getting good playable fps. so you've got all sliders including traffic on max, anti aliasing and anistropic filtering also and ya getting 25-30fps? i dont think so, even people running i7's @ 4ghz and 12gb ddr3 aint managing that so you defo aint.

@ChuckMamuck depends on your graphics card. Your CPU just calculates how you fly (the physics, the weather, and how the aircraft you are flying should react to different stimuli). The graphics card actually displays this. It has to calculate all the reflections, load textures and models, etc. It also has to do this about 30 times a second. So if you don't have a good graphics card, the game won't look good and have a good fps.

if you go look around the flight sim community you'll find many others that say the same, the real enthusiasts are upgrading to i7 yet still using their 4890's, 4870x2, gtx280, gtx260 etc. no need for dx11 cus it aint supported, dx10 is buggy, they know the cpu will improve their frames more than upgrading gpu as i do also, thats what i meant, upgrading to the latest cpu's benefits fsx more than upgrading to the latest gpu's. in 3d gaming i find its the other way around.

You can only get DX10 if you have Windows Vista or 7, FSX SP2 (or acceleration), and a DX10 compliant GPU. DX10 gets you about 10% more FPS in most cases (and looks better), but it's riddled with bugs and many add-ons are not compatable. To enable it tick the box "Preview DirectX 10" in FSX Settings. ACES (FS Creator) never finished making FSX fully DX10 compatable because Microsoft shut ACES down before they finished it
