how often you see those type of injurys in mma, not alot and i would know coz i watch every bit of mma that comes on screen, i avnt watched ufc since it went to setanta but all other organizations cage rage, bodog fight, strikeforce all that, tkd also owns some of the most brutal knockouts ive seen, but most tkd fighters against other styles look for points when there opponent is lookin for KO so of course they get KO but if tkd had that mentality in fights look the fuck out coz u will get KO'd
So you've seen UFC when the guy got brutally KO'd with multiple elbows and had most of his facial skin torn off? Or when the guy got stomped and had his chin dislocated and shattered or when somebody got knocked out with a huge slam? I just don't see how a clean knock out kick on a head gear looks more brutal. It looks good and powerful though. I sure don't think it's a matter of perspective either.
ppl say tkd is weak the kicks arent powerful its a load of crap, if you were to take a full force round kick to the head from any martial artist tkd karate watever the style chances r ya gonna end up seriosly damaged, ppl in earlier yrs of tkd comps where goin home with ruptured spleens, broken ribs, broken jaws r very common still to this day, not long ago a black belt from my club caved in sum1s face in comp with a back kick shattered his eye socket broken nose and a broken jaw,
I seriously can't believe some guy would send me this video and say that it's better than Karate. Karate guys actually fought WTF and ITF in professional tournaments and won all of them under Kyokushin Karate rules and Kickboxing rules. I think Daidoujuku Karate would be a better comparison.
ive seen plenty of tournements over the years under kick boxing rules where ITF TKD guys have won or karate guys and even seen kung fu guys win the so you cant really say that one style is better than another only the fighter.
I've never seen any decent fighters from either style except Pat Smith which really can't represent any certain style just like Semmy Schilt can't represent Karate even though he's good(?). For both Kung Fu and TKD, I don't think it's fit for fighting in different rules. But we can't say that for sure for Kung Fu. But I personally prefer older and more traditional Chinese martial arts.
what about tomaz barada he was an ITF TKD practitioner and he was 5 times european champ and 6 times world champ in WAKO kick boxing he had a record of 84 wins no loses. how is TKD not fit for fighting under different rules? many TKD guys excell in kick boxing tornements and free style fighting events with K1 type rules. theres 20 odd years of TKD guys doing very well in these types of events. do you fight in any of these events? if you did you would see TKD practitions are well respected.
I didn't see any fighter throwing punches properly like a kick boxer or a boxer. Seems like majority of the fighters in there are mostly either TKD or sports Karate(light contact). Guys in K-1 would immediately come in with a hook once Tomaz throws a light front kick like that but all his opponents back all the way out from it. I think Serkan Yilmaz is a much better fighter than Tomaz and even Yilmaz didn't make it as top figher in K-1.
the punches are still thrown properly just with a different technique compared to western boxing. these punches are still powerfull and effective. you will never see a boxer throwning a back handed punch but these are in TKD and are a knock out punch. we throw hooks in my TKD classes and when competing. if you competed you would see that these punches are effective. tomaz barada knocked out so many guys with his punches!
Boxers proved to be the most powerful and technical punchers in the world and can take a lot more hits to the face since they train their necks and get hit a lot there. I competed against ITF as a different style fighter and won. I gotta say that they hit less harder compared to guys doing Karate or Boxing and most of them were able to take hits just a bit more than guys in WTF.
boxers are the most powerfull punchers in the world im just saying that an ITF guy could still knock you out with his punches. i do ITF and have defeated boxers, kick boxers and other arts but on the other hand ive been beaten by these aswell. its not the style that wins its the fighter. your obviously not fighting any good TKD guys. and seen as a kick to the head is alot more powerful than a punch how do you work out your theory of boxers being able to take the most hits to the head??
a kick to the head can literally sever the ligements and pull other soft tissues way from the spine when you are kicked in the head there is that much force in the kick. your also forgetting that a ITF practitioner will also learn chokes, joint locks, throws, takedowns, knees and elbow techniques which arent used in its sparring but are heavily taught and practised. im not saying that TKD is the best no MA is the best but TKD contains alot more than you see in this vid.
Karate actually allowed it but a lot of people died so it's now forbidden along with the strikes to the face. But Daidojuku still allows them. I know what TKD contains. TKD comes from Karate and it's mixed with Taekkyon. The knees, elbows, and submission moves in TKD are actually coming from older form of Karate. I'm not sure if they started taking in more submission moves like the ones in Jujitsu though.
good you know your stuff. i was led to belive that the joint locks in karate actually came from jujitsu from the days when the okinawan pople used it to defend themselfs aginst the samurai warriors of japan. the samurai were impressed with the okinawan fighting style and incorperated some jujitsu techniques into it then called it karate. if you look into the history of the arts from japan and korea you will also see that they are heavily influenced by chinese kung fu aswell.
The only Korean martial arts I know that's heavily influenced by Chinese martial arts is Taekkyon which is about 2000 years old and Karate was not influenced by Kung Fu but by Chinese Kenpo and the style was less acrobatic. But from there, Karate fighters constantly challenged different style and took in their techniques so they developed their own ways. Don't see much changes nowadays though. It was already called Karate when it first came over to Okinawa by the way.
tae kwon do is a semi contact sport and they can take hits betta than WTF ones cuz in WTF they need to put prot every lil part so they never really got hard hits and by the way in tae kwno do the leg technique is in the 1st place
Ranked number one in terms of kicks? It's a martial arts that kicks mostly kicks but I've never heard of it being ranked number one. I've heard of Muay Thai, kickboxing, Karate, and other stand-up form being popularly discussed as being effective from both practitioners and non-practitioners but I rarely hear TKD, and the only ones that mentions TKD are usually people that only did TKD and nothing else.
Ri Chol Nam of course ^^...yea unfortunately you are right. there are only the korean republics, japan and a few countries that produces a good skillful TKD!
But we dont have to wait untill the itf will be a hole ! we just have to start to organize such a tournament! the important itf federations will join quickly and the not important federeations like ITF-BW etc can play at their own!
uhm,are u right... in effect, there's now the world cup where u can join also if u are not in the ITF that organize the competition.i know this because in 2006 when i was fighter i was thinking to fight!ri chol nam...ok but... tomaz barada? ;D u don't like?
ok great. finally a decent answer lol. so this means that you can axe kick or spin kick someone and knock them out if they are running or attacking you.
ok, because my masters and classmates say that it is a definate foul if you kick or punch someone and they get knocked out, fallen down or their head flies back. I'm asking because i've got a tournament on this week.
if the opponent attacks and you hit him with a dolio to the head and make him KO on DEFENCE it's not a foul......if you'r making the attack and ko him ..yes its a foul
men, i agree with you that itf taekwondo and kickboxing guys train together, but try to use a movemenet from a pattern in a street fight, and you will get seriously injured, ridge hand to the neck or eyes poked are effective in movies, and you might break your fingers also, punching the guy in the nose and a knee to the chest is far more effective.
I think you need to know the difference between match fighting and 3 second fight (3 second fight far more common) The other stuff in ITF trains for that. Properly trained ITF gyys have conditioned fingers etc. The Korean white tigers who trained in TKD had the highest hand to and kill ratio recorded in war as far as I know in Vietnam. It was like 25/1. This only possible with neck strikes etc. Google ROK marine influence on US.
white tiger are WTf.There were not WTF at that time. The soldiers were trained at Oh Do Kwan by Gen. Choi Hong Hi and his instrutors. They train ITF style.
and to you sagagossard, taekwondo is tournament oriented in the whole world men, if you practice TKD, try to use a low kick when you fight against someone in your gym, the instructor will automatically tell you "dont do that" why? because in tournaments its not allowed. TKD is about point sparring, and that doesnt work in a real fight
norkick1, kickboxing only a ring sport? have you practiced it? one step sparring in the street would get you killed, dont talk shit men, hosinsool techniques are useless, its easy to do them in a gym where no one is going to hurt you, try to use a technique from a pattern in a real fight, youre gonna get hurt badly
So you are saying that a knife hand, spear finger or ridge hand to the neck or eye pokes from patterns are not going to be effective in a fight? By the way many ITF and kick boxing guys often train togeather. So similar in sport side why argue .Are you saying Kickboxing is not a ring sport? 100% of kickboxing is focussed on that side. Look for ROK training etc.
I practiced ITF taekwondo for 6 years, im a first degree black belt and now im practicing kickboxing, because its a more realistic fighting method, taekwondo doesnt teach how to defend in a real life situation, the fighting system is based on what works only in tournaments and the forms or "tul" are useless. Pierre Guenette fought in the K-1 twice, and in both he got knocked out, his taekwondo techniques didnt work against Andy Hug.
Kickboxing is only a ring sport. If taught I.T.F. correctly, the way it was intended, it is great for self defence. It encompasses, 1 step sparring which should end a fight as the person attacks. Most fights happen from that range. Also hosinSool self defence should be practiced at good tkd gyms. Techniques from patterns are the most deadly, good school would teach to use. Korean white tigers were famous for high hand to hand kill ratio in Vietnam.
Then ur TKD school sucked... u know kickboxing is not da bomb! And seems like Pierre didn't train properly to fight in K-1; also Andy Hug was such a great fighter. Do not disregard TKD only because ur school was tournament oriented.
