JPUNCH, those are 92.6 in weight. GR is the weight used for bullets. In 9mm that would equate to a very fast load but a bit too light. It's like having a hot 380 round. Try not to go lighter than 115 gr, and the 124-127 variety are prime ! 147gr are good for deep penetration and the +P variety are very good. They are selling more +P 147's than ever. They can't keep them in stock at my local gunshop. Sounds as if you have the all copper Magtechs which is why they are lighter. Stick with lead !
Back when Hollowpoints didn't exist, Police used Lead semi-wadcutters and Lead Round nose. Because they deform so much when hitting a target they don't over penetrate in non-magnum loads. This was in 38 Special though not 9mm ! Europe use the 9mm exclusively for years and FMJ's were their bullet. When people heard shots from the police, they ducked ! Folks who can't afford quality pistols and buy Jimenez & Cobra's have to use FMJ. Like I said, they are better than nothing !
@JoeDurobot Flat nose 124 or 147 gr. Flat nose ammo causes compounding injury where a round nose will just pierce through aerodynamically. The flat nose causes more pain and has better momentum qualities.
@TommyGuns40 It depends on what he is shooting it out of, 147 is to heavy for some firearms, also flat or round depends also and if your worried about penetration just use HPs
@bushmasterwasr Your correct ! Older guns like Pre-1970 Walther P-38's, Mausers, and little 9mm can't chamber the 147 gr. Overpenetration is aleays a factor with all FMJ ammo except those loaded below 900 fps. The flatpoints don't overpenetrate like the round nose but when they do they make a big hole on the other end. FMJ's are good in a scenario where your fighting a large group. You may be able to get two birds with one stone so to speak. In metro areas however JHP are the way to go.
i shot those cheap golden bear russian 9mm ammo.very accurate reliable but the only difference i notice in those was the gun powder smell, alot stronger odor than the rest .
@mentalsplice cool thanks for sharing that with me, i thought of trying some just to plink bc of ammo prices but i never herd from anyone who tried it.
I like the Speer Lawman FMJ i didnt have any to show in this Video tho, its a fair priced round and i also like the Federal American Eagle. The Winchester 124g FMJ is a hard hitting round on your target but it is dirty compared to Federal.
check out a website called Tactical Defense Solutions they carry the entire ranger line (t-series)/sxt (ranger bonded) and even the nato rounds , they also have the entire federal tactical line so the hst line is at your finger tips, just add them to your favorites i have used them on 3 orders and they are fast reliable and carry the good stuff, but like i said if not in stock check back every few days they restock better then avg.
