I recall being at a restaurant in Las Vegas earlier this year that had a Samsung touchscreen table with an AMD processor, and I think they were touting "Microsoft Surface 2.0 Experience"...
hi Josh, I have another question. How did you install windows 8 on the surface? I tried to use USB DVD-ROM and put the DVD inside but I don't know how to boot to the DVD-ROM. thanks
@jpablo46 Surface 1 costs $12,500. Surface 2, which is about to be released, costs almost half that: $7,900. Check surface dotcom about Surface 2 -- it's much thinner and has better hardware specs.
@CellphoneTL Surface is used for business to consumer scenarios, such as retail stores, restaurants, professional consultations, as well as enterprise collaboration and other scenarios. Check surface dotcom under Product | Applications to see some examples, as well as see Surface 2.0 which is about to come out.
Do you have the surface vision system installer or some short? I have a surface 1.0 as well at my office but I'm not sure of reinstalling the OS since the surface comes with the vision system and other related softwares. I don't get any cd/dvd when my office bought it.
@fajran If you have a Surface 1.0, check in c:\SurfaceInstallers for SurfaceSDK.msi. That installer includes the vision system (unlike the Surface SDK Workstation Edition). Note that the license for that installer with the vision system components is tied to the Surface hardware and you cannot distribute it. Read my blog linked in the video information for details. I recommend shrinking your Vista partition and installing Win8 on a 2nd partition for dual booting. Works well.
Umm....why do you have a surface sitting in your house in the middle of nothing? I mean, if you're going to pony up the dough for a surface then why not do something cool with it and put it in a fully finished basement with arcade machines, a pool table, a bar, etc? That's what I'd do!
@TimDwg The Surface belongs to my employer and I have it at home (in the living room) since I develop Surface, Kinect, and other NUI applications for a living, sometimes at home, sometimes on-site. It's also great with my young children. :)
@Drazgoosh Surface 1 costs $12,500. Surface 2, which is about to be released, costs almost half that: $7,900. FYI - this Surface belongs to my employer, not me.

@Jfarro Thanks! The code is mostly available already, search for MultiTouchVista on CodePlex.
