what if nokia start making a smart chargers who understand to go completly off when user unplug the charger from phone, then user dont need to unplug anyting from the wall what is littlebit annoying.

@survivor303 good idea, but what really uses the energy is the actual powerpoint. if the powerpoint itself was to automatically detect when it was in use, and switch off whenever it was not required, it would then in turn render the charger unpowered. Device manufacturers like Nokia wouldn't have to develop this tech then; only the power point manufacturers themselves would. Therefore not just chargers, but nearly e.v.e.r.y household appliance all around the world would only be on when needed.

or if they can add somekind paddle inside the charger that it not send or use that energy when it was unplugged from the phone?

@survivor303 sure. it would be the same as flicking off the switch next to the power point. flicking off the switch stops power flowing through the power point, only this mechanism would be automatic, based on sensors inside the point being able to sense the presence of a plug inside-- say for eg: a pressure sensor inside detects when a plug is pushed into the socket, and it then switches itself on, starts an electric current and powers the device.

Think of all the energy savings. Greeeeeeeeen!

@ytyukhnin afik devices do stop charging when they are full, but the socket keeps sending power the the charger until it is unplugged
