  • @ Thoomate....I'm an American, but not ashamed. Back then our radio stations played the vinyl records they could get. Alot if not Most of the Foreign / Overseas LP's were just hard to get back then and if they got no publicity here, well, their music just never got played.

  • This was in my dad's music collection and as a kid the album cover and song used to freak me out...but now I listen again what a awesome song. I always thought my dad was so uncool and I was a huge fan of Metallica but now I know my dad was the original metal fan in our house. Love it!!!

  • wow just discovered this, thanks for uploading!

  • the picture on the cover has been haunting me since I bought the LP in 1970, very underated group

  • The monster on the over is all kinds of sexy.

  • no tengo idea de como llegue aqui... pero que bueno que lo hice, esta banda es genial!!!

  • One of my fave bands of all time, especially this LP

  • Much darker than Black Sabbath

  • I only watched this because of the William Blake illustration.. I'm glad I did.

  • This band has to be the best find in the history of my life. Soooooo underrated

  • scariest intro EVER

  • so fuckin doom....

  • Fucking brilliant. Turn it up, live a little..fuck the neighbours. If its not all the time they can't complain..chances are they make more noise than a 7min song so fuck them.

  • RIP John Du Cann

Unfortunately, no one that played on this masterpiece of an album is still alive...

    DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU!

  • I love Paridise Lost's version. I think this is first time I've heard the original. Thanks for posting this.

  • Yeah, but not the original album

  • Knock knock....Who's there?.... "Candy-gram"

  • Wicked, eerie...Where is the acid!!!

  • way cool....

  • but do they know who was in this band who later went all the way?

  • @christopherthelast Depends on your definition of 'all the way'. Carl Palmer was in ELP

  • This album is wonderful!!

  • This band definitely contributed to the development of heavy metal.

  • SO GOOD!

  • The album cover is wonderfull..

  • sounds like your decending into hell

  • are they canadian?

  • The strangest is that it had to be a 17 years old French guy who makes you re-discover YOUR classics ^^

You should be ashamed England & America =P

(and keep listening heavy music !)

  • @Thoomate

    LOL your'e so humble :P

~ From a New Zealander with French blood.

  • @Thoomate

you know I'm glad you posted this but being a self righteous prick, and and arrogant asshole about it really makes you look bad

  • @seebali Yea, I agree with you now, it was intended to be funny, but reading this again now, it's just silly. Sorry :/

  • @Thoomate seebali is being a little cunty, thanks for posting and I think it was funny

  • @Thoomate, no don't apologize. You were right hahaha

  • @seebali Shut the fuck up hahahaha

  • @Thoomate I have an LP sitting in my loft (alas no record player). Is it really all those years ago?

  • @Thoomate 10-4 Roger,merry Holidays.Merci!

  • I've still have the album in my attic . Just need to fix the turn table ! I think I was the only one for years that ever heard of them !

  • @shep53 I had this shit on fuckin 8 track lmao!!!KILLER JAMS

  • i had this record when i was a boy. i probably didn't understand it,as much as i liked it. at the time,i thought that nothing was as smart as heavy music. i figured that i was way ahead of my peer's and i guess that i didn't take hip much further.

  • yeah baby this shit rocks yeehaa

  • Sounds kinda like Jethro Tull. Only darker.

  • amazing intro!!

  • rooster rocks was behind you

  • damn the beginning music makes me paranoid. now i'm always affraid an alien rapes me from behind out of nowhere

  • yee haa my bro way back when intro me to atomic,n let me just say these puppies rip gonads

  • the song of my nightmares!

  • Absolutely amazing intro, well before its time

  • I had no idea the 70's had a dark side.

  • death walks behind you!! :D

  • A dark Jethro Tull

  • @jordang73 minus the crazy red headed guy with the flute ;)

  • i have old lps like jeyro n n slade n budgie but this is super cool

  • heavy,i cant get enough,i truly enjoy the hell out of this thx 4 post

  • WOW!!! LYRICS ARE FUCKIN AWESOME , MASTERPIECE

  • Shouldn´t the lyrics be Death walk´s In front of me?

  • I know my explanation of discovery will seem a bit outlandish, but please bare with me. I was watching Venture Bros. on Adult Swim and it was an episode were Dr Venture was trying to get Dean into science and Dr Venture used Prog-Rock as his muse. Now to the discovery of AR, he said something about the cover art being done by Roger Dean, I wiki'd him and started looking at all of the cover arts he did and listening to the bands. This is by far on of the best discoveries I've had.

  • I agree w/ Tuvadog, I grew up with this. Glad I finally thought to look on You Tube for this. It has been to long since I heard it but it's always remained in my head. Crane, Du cann, and Hammond were an amazing trio. The blend was perfect.

  • Hey dude 14 years old should you be swearing, only jocking pity you wasn't around when the great bands were performing. I was and i tell you this was the best for rock music ever. Smocked plenty off spliths, laid back and just took the sounds in. Floyd, Gallagher, Uriah heep and so on. Good days

  • @beejaykk

yea dude , i would kill to be able to grow up in the 60s and 70s. music and musicianship was just soo pure. i think it had alot to do with the abundance of drugs

  • @beejaykk Gud onya mate, yeah they were all touring and we got to see (shit-faced of course) the best.

Kudos for mentioning Rory Gallagher ...

  • And of course never to forget Lucifer's Friend , Black Widow and Budgie ...

  • Long live the 60s and 70s greatness . Artists like Atomic Rooster , Blue Cheer , Sir Lord Baltimore , Iron Butterfly , Randy Holden , Bang , Dust , UFO , Bloodrock , Captain Beyond , Hawkwind , Pentagram , Spooky Tooth ...etc. were and still are key influence on later Heavy Metal and horror scene and themes . Of course Black Sabbath were the definite milestone , yet others were , too . Thanks for the video my friend ..

  • Can't be the good old stuff. Rock has gone to the dogs. An all time awesome classic. I still have the original Album. :)

  • :o)

  • My father played this song live with his band Lucifer in front of 40,000 people on a festival in Norway. It was in 1977 I think.

  • VERY BIG MESSAGE FOR TODAY THEY WERE INCREDIBLE SPACE ROCK RULES AURTHUR IS KING

  • formed from members of the old Crazy World of Arthur Brown....Carl Palmer...having left to, yes, play for Emerson Lake and Palmer...

  • awesome band so ahead cheers junglesurfer

  • I had the album in 71. It was awesome then & still is today. Thx for posting it & bringing back some great memories

  • Great Album

  • thank G these kids r wakin up to thee GREATEST rock ever...!?

  • oops that's british soldiers with Rifles drawn..?!?

  • thee orignal cover to this album (released in USA ie.)was british solders walikg behind the band with rifes drawn ..to clarify a point..not this shit above u....

  • They should totally do a "Wake up to the Rooster" thing on the radio. Could get a little hairy for them though...heh.

  • shit lol i never realized that the paradise lost version was a cover.

  • I remember hearing this on a friends record player on a sleepover. It was like a revelation. This lead us into listening to Black Sabbath and other heavy metal music. I'm realising now how far ahead of its time this music was.

  • Great album!

  • Perfect Instrumental

Ima go buy this old record

    Somewhere!!

  • @MrSoulSamCooke ebay has loads of 'em

  • @mandolinroad

ohh then I better get to lookin!!

    Thanks Alot Man :D

  • I played this song when I was in my 20s.

    I loved this album.

    THB

  • I used to play this album in the dark at night when we were supposed to be sleeping at a really low volume....scared my little brothers every time....!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha:-D

  • He´s always there right behind , i know....

  • Hey, I knew a dude on Qualloodes (I can't spell no grammar police please lol.) that could draw some of the most bizarre but beautiful stuff. This is uniquely like that kind of artwork.

  • The album's cover features the William Blake painting Nebuchadnezzar.

  • Hey, I love it. He looks like a tortured soul, burden by the weight of the world while disgracefully crawling through his shame. THe burden of man verses the nature of the beast.

  • I would say "A man, that already knows that soon he will die", even an album title can describe these things a lot.

  • Hey, you said it right there so your answer is too easy. The album cover and the words death walk behind you so it means it's not there yet. That means things come about before death catches up hence their Rooster with boobs album. That's not about a rooster going through a sex change now is it? You have to put more into this lol.

  • freaky Good.

  • Rooster rules for ever

  • Feel the darkness from intro... damn...

  • Oh dear..I remember when this song 1st came out as a mere lass and I knew it would catch up to me one day....

  • oop's sorry ! the spelling mistake

  • I can still remeber that day when I bought this LP

  • Great ROOSTER!

After this, the sensational STAND BY ME with

Chris Farlowe in vocals and Rick Parnell on drums.

But the core soul was CRANE, the lift Vincent!

  • too bad there's no live footage of this song

  • Still with Carl Palmer. Very very good music. What a time it was... UT is bringing it all back. Love it.

  • Wow. Watch the the trailer to the new Alice in Wonderland movie while playing this. FREAKY!!!!!!!

  • excelent song excelent disc and excelent band

  • One of the best songs I ever heard. I forgot it mostly. Thanks for reminding me

  • Wow. All those memories came flooding back like the hot kiss on the end of a wet fist. Thanx dude!

  • Great!!! And fantastic sound quality!!!

    Thank you!

  • Love these guys!

  • I'm still rocking my arse off!

  • f****g gorgeous!

  • You mean "OK, I'm just afraid" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    Fucking Owned!!!!

  • touche i'll give it another listen

  • Wow a small spelling error . Who gives a fuck its you tube spelling isn't something that is terribly important retard.

  • Thanks for posting this memory. 2 A.M. it always seemed to come on during "peak" hours LOL

  • I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, the land of calypso, To me Atomic Rooster and the particular album that contains this song is one of the greatest albums of all time and a highly underated band, I also love And So...To Bed, because it is so true, I wish this band could come to Trinidad probably along with RUSH and DREAM THEATRE

  • bloody hell i'd forgotten about AR - way down memory lane

  • The entire album is a true masterpiece and way before time, I agree!!! Vincent Crane was a genious and like many talents he didn´t gain enough success.

  • this was way above its time

  • fucking greatest, black magical bewitching and total clasical psychedelic progess hardrock track!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the original art better that doesnt look like a rooster or atomic whatever song kicks butt long live a r a r ar atoomic rooooster bonzo76 rock on ,,,,rock over dobbs ferry rock over nyc rockover london death walks behind you wooooo wooooo

  • @Zofthydead - the doors- love- black sabbath- led zeppelin- jefferson airplane- velvet underground-ultimate spinach- quicksilver messenger service-grateful dead- etc

  • @Zofthydead 14 and with typing fingers like that fuckin kids these days eh? lol

  • You have very good musical taste. We may be old but we were young once too and we dug the hell out of the more obscure bands. Got to give props to sabbath too.

    cheers! grtz from The Netherlands

  • @Zofthydead camel, listen to camel, now

  • The first Rooster song I ever heard and still my favorite cuz it's the only song that still plays on my old vinyl LP!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting this fantastic "hippie" classic!

  • GUFFAW! I actually SAW Bloodrock in Savannah GA RE dat comment about DOA ...(rockyswealthformula) is even older than I am...*wink*

  • This song just pooped into my brain 2nite..hadn't thought of it for decades! Wow i used to love this when I was a fetus! lol Erm it's shocking but YES I was an adolescent when this came out..I think I was 13? (bd 1957) I can't remember all I know is it's still cool as hell!

  • You do mean popped, right? not pooped?

No matter I thought it was cute and funny:)

  • Along with DOA by Bloodrock, one of the best riffs ever and a great song. heard it when I was in college-early seventies. glad to find it here.

  • too scary; couldn't listen.

  • lol

  • Yay - kudos to you for putting this up. This was the first album I ever bought!

  • sick song i love it

  • Any band that puts a picture by William Blake on their album sleeve can't be that bad, really. And look ye here: A real gem!

  • This is an awesome song. But i think the best Atomic rooster album is in hearing of. It has the best piano parts.

  • Phenomenal song by a phenomenal band.

  • Aye the pic is 'Nebuchadnezzar' by blake and portrays a ruler that has lost his mind and is reduced to animalistic behaviour. this album, along with black sabbath's first used to terrify me as a young child! fantastic groundbreaking music. the bands of today have no invevtion. just over produced digitised crap! in comparison to great bands like rooster, sabbath, elp and yes.

  • Yes, the picture is William Blake's. The song is notable, for reasons some of you have already stated. It's an early foray into death metal.

  • I Still have this in CELLOPHANE BAYBEE! From 1970 in PRISTINE CONDITION! THE BIRTH OF METAL Some Say! :) They are connected to Argent and Baker Gurvitz Army I believe. Saw them all! The 'kid

  • Bruce Dickinson stole this cover for the chemmical wedding album

    Still I love Bruce :-)

  • Actually, they both stole it from William Blake.

  • Yes, THE Bruce Dickinson... :-)

  • Thank you so much for putting this song up - the amount of times I've been looking for it here. Thanks.:)

  • Maybe not heavy, but dark sounding. A lot of metal is heavy, but doesn't sound that dark.

  • you're a faggott. cannibal corpse arent heavy. they're just noise. this is what real heavy music is.

theres a difference between heavy and wofully distorted and noisy!

  • I like both actually.

  • That's your opinion, I enjoy both.

  • Wow, great song! First time I heart it :D

I'll try to find out more about them

  • Musically these guys were pretty good. Lyrically, they were challenged. For a song that captures a down right scary mode both musically and lyrically, try "I Walk on Guilded Splinters" by Dr John.

  • To think that I used to love this song!? How stupid! Oooh Very Scary! LOL!

  • Thanks...

  • Wow! Haunting. Love this song. I bought their DWBY LP way back in 71 or was it 72. Almost every song on it is good. Still have it. I bought a couple of their later LPs but they didn't anywhere match DWBY.
