i met them in hartlepool few times when they were judges at competitions i was in didnt realise how well they had done love watching them bring backs memories
I'm in the middle of a clear out and have just come across some old memorabilia of my teenage years when I used to have ballroom dancing lessons at 'Taskers of Bury' back in 1971. Our awards were presented by Billy & Bobby Irvine on several occasions and so I decided to Google them. I have to say that at the time I don't think I appreciated just how famous they were! True champions. And the Taskers made a great contribution to our teenage years. Thank you for the video.
Bill and Bobbie were great people,I used to dance at there studio,I saw them dance a lot,I once was having a lesson with my dance teacher and I could not get my balance so bill came over to help yes I am a man it was the first time I ever danced with a man after that I never had a problem with my balance, He was a very clever man his basics were so good his heels and toes and his direction of his steps, he is very much missed
Wonderful memories. Does anyone anywhere have film pre 1939? My parents were European and World Championship Amateur Ballroom champions around 1930s, but we have no films and would be so grateful.
Hi--I sure wish I could trade dance videos with you. I would like to see this in a higher res. We've heard so much about Bill and Bobbie but we have never seen them dance. It is such a pleasure to see them dance for the first time.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I was fortunate enough to have lessons from them in the 90s, inspirational and incredibly knowledgeable, but I never saw them dance like this such musicality & control just beautiful. Bill & Bobbie wrote a book about their life and dancing sadly it may be out of print now, but find it and read it if you can!
They taught me when I was dancing in th elate 60's - they were exquisite dancers. Thanks so much to whover posted this video. Feels like I have died and gone to heaven
With all the development in ballroom dancing during the decades since, nobody has been able to improve on the magical quality of Bill and Bobby. This is just beautiful!
Now this is somebody who understand that there is more to flashy routines and "technicality". Yes, the steps are ancient but it looks beautiful. my instructors took lessons with them. now i know how fortunate they were.
No, although they are good friends of his. Pete, passed away when I started dancing but I got the story from her. Anyhow, we really should email each other instead of using public messages.

Great Foxtrot. I took a class from Bill Irvine
in 1983. You should have seen what improvements he did with a couple in the class, in just a few minutes of instruction.
