You're landing UPhill... the stall warning has to come on a bit early, as you need to flare more than usual so you're actually going up when you land. Landed at an airport like this in Turkey (Samsun) once on a commercial flight. The strip was built on top of a hill, but you couldn't see the other end of the runway when you were on the ground. Kind of made you hope some shepherd didn't get his herd of goats out on the runway as you were touching down.
wow...great video... its amazing. This landing strip doesnt leave you much room for errors, does it! Tiny small little landing strip which go's directly into the mountains! Its not like you can change your mind and pull up, can you! lol! :)
Given the pressure altitude (elevation is 6588 feet AMSL), unknown wind speed and direction, inclined runway and unknown aircraft type I would hazard to guess that there was no overshoot option. These types of landings tend to be pass/fail and quiet honestly once you're down in ground effect, the stall horn becomes largely insignificant. I'd accept that as an excellent landing if I did it.
@andrarict It's a Jodel D140C, or Mousquetaire III. I've flown one and they are quite honest airplanes with no bad habits, like all Jodels (JOly and DELmontez, the original designers). A well regarded airplane in Europe. It is a tailwheel airplane so you have to stay alert on landing.
@andrarict Hi andrarict, I was just being stupid, I was in a goofy mood. But thanks for taking the time to respond anyway. Check out the numbers of this video, it skyrocketed almost 60,000 viewers in one day! I watched most of the videos linked on CNN and this one's probably my favorite. Very beautiful. Go Musketeers!
ive never landed at courchavel and i was flying my 172 2 weeks ago there and i stalled around 500 feet bt luckyly i controled it and landed safley i almos pooped my pants tho
@Kawazusugoi - As a pilot observing this landing, I would say it came on just a little too early. Looks like this guy was flying at MCA (Minimum Controllable Airspeed) which makes sense, given the short runway and not wanting to overshoot it or be unable to stop. However, the landing was a little rough, maybe a stall, bump, bounce back up, and fall again. Considering the short runway, this was an okay landing.
@Kawazusugoi I'm pretty sure that was a normal stall warning... It's the pilot's job to safely land the plane by stalling it right above the ground. I believe this stall warning might be extra sensitive, since most GenAv planes are, or the pilot just hovered a little. Anyway, it was a nice landing. Job well done!
Where did you get this video anyway? Or did you shoot it yourself?
@televasion No, he made a full stalled landing. Plus most people don't realize that a stall warning horn means you are in danger of stalling, not that the stall is currently occurring. Pretty much every landing in a smaller GA plane will end up with the stall horn going off because they are pretty much all full stall landings. Unless you land like a son of a bitch haha.
@televasion On short field approaches the stall warning will usually sound right about when it did if not a little earlier. The stall warning horn is also calibrated to go of anywhere from 5kts to 10kts before the actual stall occurs

Here from CNN, yay! So pretty!! What is this, a 747 landing? Great job!
adarkerlight 11 months ago
@adarkerlight
No. It's a prop plane. (Not sure the exact model). 747's have jets. Also, a 747 cannot land on that runway, it's way too short.

It was neat to see the Pilot change the engine speed by seeing the prop visually change. Looks like a challenging runway.

@Kawazusugoi To be honest, theres notthing wrong at all, stall time was perfecting giving the situation.

@txpoolstud MCA is usually a Twin engine Term. Most single engine planes do not have an MCA
