why did they drop this plot? seriously, after a scene like that, there is no mention of Bens obsession over Juliet at all. he doesn't even ask if she's still alive in later seasons. talk about discontinuity.

@Aellla They don't meet up. Ben spends rest of the time in Season 4 either off island or with Locke away from her. Season 5 she helps save him as a kid but she's in the past and he's 30 years ahead of her, nobody to ask. Then she dies at the start of Season 6 and he's dealing with the fact his whole life was a set-up to kill Jacob by Smokey.

@MultiFeral But still, he shows so much passion about her (I'm not saying it's love, but he is feeling some strong emotion towards her) and then nothing? Really, he didn't even ASK about her when there was an occasion and he could do that during the 5th season, or at least show concern. It's not about him not having time to worry about Juliet, it's lousy writing (as much as I love Lost).

@Aellla Maybe he would have once back on the island but then he was dealing with the fact that a guy he killed came back fom the dead to take over the Others from him or so he thought. And he was threatend by the Monster looking like the girl he considered the daughter that he let die. And he didn't know about time travel, he left that to Eloise. He did tell "Locke" he would help him if he needed Jacob to get bsavk to his people. Maybe he would have later tried Juliet if he saw her, but he busy

@MultiFeral And at the end of the series? If he at last said "sorry" to her it would be somehow resolved(he had time then). Really, don't make excuses for the writers, if they wanted to see this through they would've written few things differently. They could show him confused when they met the other group, then ask someone what happened with Juliet, and later they could have showed him mulling over it looking sad, all of that in one episode. Not so hard, is it?

@Aellla Season 5 sort of brought this in when jack was starting to leave things to fate and a lot of people didn't exactly like Juliet/Sawyer (Skaters in particualr) it showed Juliet has a noble haert cause even though he emotionally tortured her with her sister and nephew and seeing all the would-be mothers and unborn babies die, she still wouldn't let him die as a kid like Sayid tried to do.

@Aellla Putting it on-island in Season 6 would bring Sawyer into it which the writers never put those two together until the finale and having it come up them wouldn't flow with the focus or pace of the finale. Sideways Juliet had an illusion son by Jack after not meeting her nephew,watching her those people die with their unborn babies, and the hints she died on the island pregnant by James. Th writers chose to focus on Ben aplogizing to Locke, and saying he wil work on aplogizing to Alex,

@Aellla Danielle, etc. Juliet found happiness with Sawyer and once she finally got to expirence motherhood, so she had no need for the Sideways, she had no need to stick around. She had just let the issues with him go. Could the writers have expanded on that? Oh yeah, but they chose not too, same with stuff like Annie. Who turned out to be only to prove Ben could love and has a trace of a heart when we are first getting to know him as the evil Others's leader and Juliet looked like dead mommy.

I beg to differ that he would forget some things but he would still have fleeting memories of other things, like Juliet for example.

What do you mean with "back than". I mean when Ben turned the island at the end of season 4. The consequence of this was, that he was expelled from the island and can never return (he says so). And I don't say that Ben has anything to do with making Jack an alcoholic (although you can not be 100% sure by Lost). He is not responsible for everything bad that happens. But the good things he does, even if they also help others directly, he always provides from it in some way.

moving the island instead of tricking Locke into doing so (Locke didn't know you leave the island if you turn the wheel). But every thing else he done was to reach his own aims.

This is why LOST is such a great show. That body has served so many different purposes. It was found by Eko and Jin and it was horrifying then we saw how it first got their and was really action packed w/ Ana Lucia (RIP). Many people used to think that Ben had unrequited feelings of love for Juliet in season 3 but they turned it into a full blown obsesion this season.

Anyways, I love these 2 characters and the actors are fantastic. It's too bad that we probably won't get any scenes with them in season 5.

@Shalimar1 Ben was never/ has never been psychotic... The reasons are thus: natural genetic competition and tactical impartiality; Ben sees everything as Machiavellian tactics, he more or less lets people choose if he will kill them, not that his is necessarily right.

What you have there is a bias that prevents you from seeing the big picture; humans kill and history suggests its a natural part of life. But you don't have to choose it, there is alwayse free will, thats what tactics rob you of.
