We hired the Stompers for a fraternity party at Babson College. All time great party. I saw them last summer at the Hampton Casino with the Fools. Ernie and the Automatics also played (Barry Goudreau on guitar). What a flashback. Sal is big, bald, but still sounds great. Great memories.
A weekend at Uncle Sams in Hull with The Stompers was a perfect rock and roll night! The perfect late 70's band with a 50's twist. Those were the times when good music said "never die". What the f happened?
Hehe, they were my first concert ever, starting with my mom going to see them while she was pregnant with me. She was a very big fan, still is, and I love their music. Thank you for posting this!
The Old Forge Tavern on Rte 138 in Easton; outdoors at the East Bridgewater Commercial Club; and many, many, many great nights at The Channel on the skanky banks of Fort Point Channel in Bosssston. Good times.
I'm the guy responsible for their first major label signing to BoardWalk Records (Neil Bogart's last label). Even though I was the VP Finance, I'd been in enough garage bands in the Bronx and Boston (NU grad) that I knew great music when I heard it. I arranged a showcase for the label President, Irv Biegel, myself and Bruce Bird, our Sr VP of A&R. What sealed the deal was Sal's cover of "Under the Boardwalk".
OMG!!!! -- What fun!!!!! What fun it was, what fun memories, I feel OLD now, and puhlease, yes Jacobs Ladder, Harbor House, Compass Lounge -- I had forgotten all those places, so thank you all for bringing them back! And don't anyone forget the holiest houses of all, the Channel!!! Stompers were awesome, thanks again!!
Thanks for that! What great memories!!! FYI Sal, Steve, and Lenny are playing this Friday night (Dave's on the West Coast) at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA.
I may not have been around when they were big but I grew up listening to this with my parents! and my mom still has her stompers jacket with backstage pass on it.
OK, who remembers the Harbour House in Lynn?? Stompers and the Fools were an icon there. Jacobs Ladder for a dip in the pool anyone?? Thanks for posting..
