  • Please help me! I'm going to buy a 50mm lens for my Nikon D3100 and don't know which one! Is it that much of a difference between 50mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.4?

  • @Inzane13371 1.4 for using large apertures between F/2 to F/5.6. 1.8 for using small apertures between F/4 to F/8 for DX (F/4 to F/16 for FX and film). in other words, 1.4 for shooting in poor lighting conditions and 1.8 for shooting in good lighting.

  • No problem. Just an advice for your own future, you can't really reply on someone else to decide for you. Everyone's different and not all of them think alike. It's you who are the photographer, your creation, and your decision. People don't take pictures for you, it's you. :)

  • We don't take pictures for you, so, that's not up to us to decide for you, either.

You can rent them out to compare, see, and decide for yourself.

  • Does it have a better performance than the sigma 50mm 1.4?

  • Yep.

  • @Lilkiwiguy87 why? Is it sharper?

  • Take a look at Nikon 50mm ƒ/1.4D AF video. Sigma is similar in most ways but does a terrible job at handling the star effects, flaring, and coma. Not to mention, the Sigma weights 3 times heavier and takes expensive 77mm filters than Nikon's lightweight and 58mm filter thread.

  • hi! do you any idea, how much it cost in the market?

  • Oh, gee... We don't know. Let's ask the Magic 8 Ball, shall we?

It said, "watch the video again!"

  • Fantastic Channel! very very well done reviews, simple & to the point + info others leave out... I am buying this lens before I even order my D7000 body. (First DSLR for me).... Gonna piece together great lenses slowly so one day with full frame, I'll have lenses able to take full advantage of it... Should work well on portraits with DX. Keep up the great work, I appreciate your efforts putting together great videos, I am sure countless others do too.. Cheers :)

  • One lens is enough for a while, so, you can use that time to learn more about photography instead of worrying about what lenses to get next. You don't need to upgrade to FX format because D7000 will do just fine for a while and there's no great advantage in FX format over DX format.

  • the vignette puts me off is it that noticeable at low aperture?

  • Not completely noticeable but it's still there at low apertures. It's normal, all lenses have it but goes away for most of them. You don't have to worry because it's easily correctable and normal viewers don't look at the corners of your pictures.

  • A great lens, I love mine. Low light awesomeness ++

  • I loved your VDO...the technique u made it is specially commendabel...small errors can always be overlooked... Lookin forward to get this lens soon....

  • I bought this lens a few weeks ago, and I love it!

  • in the video you made for nikon terms you say that a G lens is a lens which doesnt have a focusing ring

    how can this one have?

  • Watch both videos again and very carefully.

  • I remember you mentioning about a weird elliptical shape on round objects, when these objects are in the background and out of focus, some weird Bokeh, you mentioned I believe.

And I do think that was true, my lens produces elliptical bubbles sorta of speak in the background, still pleasant Bokeh , but a bit funny I think.

  • Oh, jeez, we completely forgot about that. Sorry.

Well, yeah, it produces football-shaped bokeh for some unexplainable reason but it will go away at F/2.0 and lower apertures.

  • @Lilkiwiguy87 you mean rugby ball shaped?

  • Well, for non-Americans, yes, haha.

  • WMG disabled the song...

  • AudioSwap is still in the process to replace it.

  • @Lilkiwiguy87 I didn't get bothered and played "thieves like us" from my player anyway.

  • I bought this lens after sawing your review. nice lens, however I prefer 70-200mm VR bokeh beyond 135mm compare to 50mm. now i use 70-200mm + 50mm for portrait, mostly use 70-200mm since friends are a bit shy,

  • If it had faster AF, I would be happier.

The 1.4D had blazing fast AF..

  • The back element stick way to much out!!

  • made in china.?

  • Yes, made in China, your turn.
