I worked frequently with this classy lady at TCN 9 when she appeared on shows I worked on, first as a stagehand, and later a trainee and then studio cameraman. Lovely girl, and her voice was pure honey. You couldn't help but get good shots with Laurel Lea in your lens on the Marconi Mk. 4 monochrome camera! I mainly did Camera 1 getting all the camera left closeups and support shots. Saturday Date, Bandstand, etc. Worked with her most on Brian Henderson's Bandstand.
Thanks for posting this quality clip. Laurel Lea had such an amazing voice and as they say in the business, the camera loved her. How lucky are we that clips like this are available to remember her by.
Laurelsson, your mother has such a pretty voice and of course a very beautiful woman! I'm sure she had a wonderful love for all ! I have really enjoyed her music..... just discovered her!!!
Wow Such A pretty And Talented Woman! Her voice is sooo pure! Definitely a treat! Do you know if there is anyway i could get a copy of this recording for my wedding? I would love to hear your Mother's voice sing this song on that special day :)
I'm so happy to see soo many of you post nice things here about Laurel. I'm also glad I cannot see Vexfeon's comment. This is my mum, I'm proud of her and I'm sad my kids never got to know her.
Thank you all for your kind comments, she was a straight talking beautiful woman and I love her.
If any of you that have posted here have any info to share about her please contact me it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to collect as much as I can about Grandma for my kids.
Hi son of Laurel Lea. She and Patsy Ann Noble (later known as Trish Noble were the best looking girls ever to appear on early rock n roll shows like Bandstand and six O Clock Rock. She was very talented. Wasn't she married to a singer known as Kevin Todd at some stage?
Yes, Kevin is my father. I think they married because of me (or the impending me!) THese days it wouldn't have mattered, but back then I guess it was the "right thing to do".
'Laurel' was a very dear friend who I will miss forvever more. She was even more beautiful in the heart than she was visually and that is Absolutely stunning. A marvelous talent and a much loved friend. I miss her and her words of wisdom.
why do some people like vuxfeon have to make these comments, i'm guessing he is reffering to an x rated movie.....typical young punk with no respect for someone with talent. I would suggest that vuxfeon should put his head in a bucket of what horses produce!
Don't worry I know many younger people who enjoy music with quality, my comment was for "Vuxfeon" a racist with no taste at all!......I'm 50 and still playing music, and I like everything from 1920's to some of the music out now!
you could never say an unkind word about her she was beautiful...

I met Kevin when he worked for Musgrave & Sons (if my memory is correct). I was with Les Walters Pty Ltd. He'll get a smile from that bit of news.

@Laurelsson
Your mum was beautiful, just a lovely person, and at the time they married it made all the newspapers.
She was pregnant when married, but she loved your dad
She was gentle and kind with her heart in the right place.
I remember your dad having bright orange hair, it was dyed for a stage show.

@Laurelsson she was the best looking AND the most professional sound .
