Landa - I'm sure this mission of yours has a commanding officer. Aldo - A general. Landa - Looking for... OSS would be my guess. *LANDA SNIFFS* *CUE TIGER GROWL AND SHOWING OF THE TEETH AND NODDING HEAD LEFT TO RIGHT DURING SENTENCE* Landa - Oooooh! That's a bingoooooo! *LANDA SCOFFS* Landa - Is that the way you say it, that's a bingo? Aldo - You just said bango. *CUE TIGER GROWL AND SHOWING OF THE TEETH AND NODDING HEAD LEFT TO RIGHT DURING SENTENCE* BINGOOOOOO HOW FUN.
I think it was a chinese or japanesse actor, (some dude who does marcial arts or something like that) who won the best villian award, i have no idea who he is.
Does anyone else find Mr Chistoph Waltz fit? cause i do, hes an amazing actor, i dont understand how he didnt win the award for Best villain, anyways and Mtv award is not a big deal.
He was so great in this movie. From the trailers I thought it was brad pitt who was going to be the highlight of the film. Brad did good like always but waltz stole the show. A well deserved nomination and win for christoph waltz.
@padrefaria Good point. I guess the important thing is that a relatively unkonwn actor from Austria got recognised at an American awards ceremony. Thumbs up to that man.
@chocolatito5000 I beg to differ. as being part of both sections of the story in inglorious basterds he was the main character even if it looks not to have been. however he should have one.
You're a fucking idiot. It's just a movie. People forget the whole point movies are made...its for entertainment...........Nazis can be fun too.......
just watched this film, glad to know people feel the same way about landa in this film as i do! he's definitely one of the most brilliant characters ive ever had the pleasure of watching.
@ joshlespaul1952: But in a way, Hans Landa IS an actor, the way he uses his charm and facility with languages with manipulate situations to his advantage.
@metafact Touché. If that is the context in which old4x posted his/her comment, my apologies; that makes perfect sense. I merely interpreted it as someone referring to the actor by the character's name, as is so often done on YouTube. Kudos.
What really messes with you is watching Das Boot and hoping the people in the submarine live and then realizing they're germans and realize you're cheering for the wrong team! XD
I admit, it's difficult to properly judge an actor's capabilities when the character they are playing is evil. Christopher Waltz, to my mind, was astonishing in this role and deserves the Oscar - even though the character he played was despicable (oh, and Waltz did more in this role than just "being funny")
lol it's funny how everybody get so defensive and tell me it's just a movie.. i know it's just a movie and it doesent bother me if people like him or not i'm just stating an interesting point... sheesh people come on dont take it so personally
imo, he was never a real nazi from the beginning. He works for them but didn't seem to care a bit about Nazi ideology. He works for his own interest and also knew at that time the german will lose... hence why he switched side.
In this scene, he just not funny to be funny. He is just enjoying the moment. For example, if I was a terrorist and this would be my moment of glory, I would laugh in happiness too. In this contest, I see Landa the same way. He is enjoying the opportunity to switch side
Gb19: Acting skills is what's on show. Not ideology. Acting, acting, acting. When you go into the shower, practice "That's a bingo!", until the wifey comes in and hits you over the head with a broom.
Hmm all of u people just seem to miss the point... well whatever let it be that's the greatness of this movie anyway.. that's why i liked it so much
oh and @carlosgodoy1 thx for teaching me about acting man!! i never knew it was just pretending and saying stuff u dont beleive in!! u r so clever! (see i'm also practicing acting as u suggested)
The point of the movie is: You can drop all the most brutal nonsensical violence and cruelty upon a NAZI and it will be tolerated, even praised. I loved this movie cause it just shows how dumb is the "enemy" mentality some people have towards something they don't even know.
What about that whole " surrender and handing over the guns to the basterds (who, he knew very well, were Nazi killers)??? Wasnt that stupid?
The most stupid thing i ever saw a person do in a movie! But i guess that was the joke: he was so intelligent reading and analizing other people and in the end he underestimated the supposed "deal" that he made to the Basterds!
So Yes, he was very stupid in trusting the Basterds (i was surprised they didnt kill him - the hell with the deal he made!)
Landa is an German (well Austrian actually), he follows orders and he must have assumed that Americans too must follow orders from their superiors. Of course the Basterds, being one of the most unprofessional forces I have seen on film in the longest time, if I were Landa I would have shot them.
Oh well, Landa gets away with it in the end anyway. Landa is great!
The Basters are Nazi killers - he knew that. He knew VERY WELL that they didnt follow orders like normal allie soldiers! The didnt assume nothing like what you said!!!!
So why would he trust them so much as to surreder himself to them!
He was STUPID and NAIVE!
(By the way, it doesnt matter if they were unprofessional, bla, bla bla... That is how they were in the first place ant thats what make the movie great! )

What does the dictionary have to do with anything???
What do you call his surrendering to the basters in the end of the movie - very intelligent??
The most smart thing he could think of was:"hey i'm going to surrender to a bunch of nazi killers, and i'm going to give them the pistols and let them cuf me as bonus!"
Christoph Waltz performance was perfect. The way he juxaposes his almost childlike glee with a dark and ruthless methodology is chilling. He'd prob make a good interogator. Knows just how to put you on edge.
lol! Landa comes off in this scene as some kind of a 6 year old kid, who is excited about the latest toy his parents are going to buy for him! The toy he was busy ogling at in the toy store window and throwing a tantrum over it! :D
