@mageminer70 There will be some lag compared to a faster panel, but it wasn't so much that it ruined the gaming experience. You see a lot more terrain in games built for this and that more than makes up for any lag experienced as does the better picture quality of the PVA panels.
i want buy 4X PNY Quadro 6000 and SLI bridge them, for this build i want to buy 3x Samsung SyncMaster MD230X6 for my fly sim. the problem is how to connect this 18 screens to this 4 GPU's!
Tho about TripleHead2Go, or will it just work fine with 4X PNY Quadro 6000?
Anyone have any knowledge of this Samsung SyncMaster MD230X6 ?
@XxXZoranXxX You can run three monitors off one, and three off the other if not SLI. If in SLI, you can only run three monitors. There may be some resolution issues as Eyefinity is really the only way to go with this type of setup.

@nullpunktnull Should be the same version. The weight of the whole assembly weighs the spring down. So when you pull the array up, be careful. It's supposed to be 100mm of adjustment, but sags quite a bit.
@Futurelooksdotcom Hi and thanks for your help, but I cannot find the 'pin' to unlock the lift. I can hang on my monitors but they don't move : ) You wrote 'pull the pin in the back', but i cannot see any pin.. I also opened the cover on the top, but theres no thing to click or pull....
@nullpunktnull The center column's two monitor mount parts are actually floating. There is nothing to click. They ride within the center post that is attached to the base. Just put your hands under the center monitor and pull up. You will get about 100mm of travel, but most of that will become sag, due to the enormous weight of the array. It's not a very good design in this respect. Manual is fairly useless in this respect.
@HaloSpartan34 You can find it for around $1600. Still a lot though considering three GOOD 23 inch monitors can be had for $750 and you can get an XFX triple monitor stand for $300 or so. If you use cheaper monitors, you can go even less.
@1zacster Yeah well you're not getting the ultra thin bezels by doing what you're suggesting, and you're not getting the custom base. What you're buying is a specially engineered product.
Hello Steven, very cool job. I really liked it. Quick question, would it be possible to have just one computer doing the job and six different windows from it? I mean, from just one computer have six different extended screens. ThX!
Just wondering... Wouldn't it make more sense to just play games on a 60" LED t.v. than this 6 monitor monstrosity? Only cause I have a 22" Viewsonic monitor for everyday use and also a 40" Sony LCD that I play games on...
@tom8me No, it wouldn't make sense. Because your 60 inch LED TV might support a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 (just guessing). With this setup, you're getting a resolution 5760x2160. There is no comparison whatsoever.
the way i see it .. these guys are just another Link .. another middleman that needs to earn money .. if he buys hes stuff from NCIX canada .. why not just cut him out and do the same .. or some american NCIX department . makes no sence that Sellers buy it from another seller . why cant all companys just buy it from the same place .. aka the Manufacture or whatever
@Pallepop909 If you're referring to us, we aren't a retailer and we sell nothing. We're only an online magazine. But we do recommend NCIX and Memory Express in Canada for computer goodies.
By the way great video I can't see any way you could improve. Maybe less counting, and allow us to see how you fixed the first monitor then speed up the rest.
@LetsPlayJones Will count less and let Sesame Street have that to themselves ;) As for assembling one, you actually can't do it that way since they all work together to suspend one another together and balance the display.
@LetsPlayJones They are housed in metal and are the heaviest 23 inch monitors we have ever picked up. And yes, the price tag is nutty when you can build your own set for less.
@BenMightBeWrong The resolution on each screen is 1920x1080. Our best HDTVs only do 1920x1080. This monitor does 1920x1080 on each monitor for a total resolution of 5760x2160. Yes, it is pricey but no HDTV does that resolution. Well, maybe if you parked 6 of them together :)
that is sweet setup for 6 monitors i wonder if you can make it work in portrait style side by side? but very good information on this massive screen setup.
@ravensgotskillz That's part of the problem with this setup. It's not very versatile so running them in a portrait 1x6 setup wouldn't work at all unfortunately.
@dumpstac The ones in the video were provided with the E6 version of the AMD HD 5870. The monitor does not come with them as we unboxed and showed that it did not come with them.
6 DP cables makes for some horrible cable spaghetti, hopefully now that Display port 1.2 is out and supported by the HD 6000 series cards, Samsung (and others) will come out with a version of this setup that lets you daisy chain the display connections.
fantastic video guys. will be subscribing. well done.
I have an eyefinity setup with 2x5870 eyefinity6 cards and will be looking into these monitors. I can't see myself buying 6, but I'm in the market for 3.
@bboymassUK You'll want the little brother, the MD230x3 which was recently unboxed by our friend Linus from LinusTechTips. these monitors are not sold on their own. The closest would be the Samsung F2380 which has a similar thin bezel but isn't built crazy like the ones in this display.
@TSMK900 I found the lag a little annoying in FPS, but anything that moves a bit slower like a SIM or RTS or anything where you aren't constantly flicking around would be OK. I did find it OK for Dirt 2. That was really fun actually.
@TSMK900 Nope. Same response times/contrast ratios. Same monitors just more of them on the MD230x6. To be honest, the bezels, even though they are thin, are VERY annoying when gaming. Productivity though, is awesome. Perfect for video editing.
@Powdermonkey99 F2380 does not have DP. But does have a feature called Dual DVI where you can actually share the monitor between two systems or sources and switch between them, allowing you to maintain same quality of picture. I don't have a list no but the ones that I have seen tend to be in the professional range in most companies monitor line up.
@Futurelooksdotcom Thanks, where did you get the 6 MDP to DP adapter cables? - I like the fact I do not have to buy POWERED adapter if I stay with DP connection. - Thanks again for your help
@ryancouture Depends on how you set it up. You can set groupings that allow you to configure a native resolution of 1920x1080 per panel times how many panels. So you can have two groups of 3x1 which gives you two sets of three panels at 5760 x 1080 or turn them all on for a 3x2 grouping and get 5760 x 2160.
The E6 version of the HD 5870 is the only card that can run all six. Or you can run two cards and do two Eyefinity 3 displays stacked.
@MrPhotoFreakish So far, the setup is overwhelming. However, we've found it very effective when running two different systems. For example, one system doing our admin stuff up top, and one on the three bottom mons for video editing.
The PVA panels look really nice. There is a SLIGHT bit of ghosting when playing FPS shooters. Like someone mentioned, no matter how thin the bezels are, they do get in the way sometimes. But as far as productivity use goes, it's pretty killer for that.
@lifeborder Seems to work well for Sesame Street. But kidding aside, we could probably just cut the counting out in an edit if it comes up again. Thx for your suggestion.
@bcdrummer this offers a higher resolution, when you are close up (what you are at a computer) it is a very big deal. or else you look like a n00b playing a console
@wallyuk123 The manual for the MD230x3 and MD230x6 are the same. The MD230x6 has 100mm of up and down travel on the stand. If yours doesn't move up and down on the stand, then it's probably fixed.
Yes the manual includes details of the md230x3 and md230x6 but I cannot see any reference to how to move the monitor up and down the 100mm. The samsung website says the md230x3 is height adjustable 100mm too, Im only looking at the stand I havent constructed the monitors yet, but I cannot see how the monitor bracket moves up and down. Is it just a case of applying fotrce to the monitors or is there some latch, button etc?
@wallyuk123 The MD230X6 slides up and down on some sort of spring assist that is built into the stand. Since there is no mention of unbolting anything to adjust the MD230x3, then I'd imagine it's a similar type of system. You can see the MD230x6 lift up and down as it was assembled in the video for the 100mm of adjustment. It is either UP all the way or DOWN all the way. There is no latch needed, though in shipping, there might be a block that keeps it from moving.
Still majorly flawed design on the behalf of ATI.When using six monitors you still have a huge bezel smack bang right in the middle, horizontaly instead of vertically. This gets right in the way when gaming in fps as your crosshairs get caught up between middle top and bottom screens.
Great unboxing video. This definitely makes Eyefinity 6 a lot more attractive. Also, I'm quite fond of this guy doing the unboxing videos. He gives off a great vibe.
@Hekynn it is very overwhelming. Probably not practical for most users. However, if you have more than one computer and want to see output from both of them, this might be the ticket albeit a very expensive ticket.
@BLaZZiNinJapan Sorry our video doesn't meet with your standards. Hopefully we'll be able to learn "how it's supposed to be done" from the videos on your channel.
