Well they did set up the government in South Vietnam as a counter to North vietman so its understandable. Those aren't really accurate fact, they are more along the lines of a simplistic view of a very complex series of peace treaties.
Yes Germany did get the shit blown out of it, but so did alot of countries. Including many allied nations.

The Vietcong didn't survive till 1973. They were destroyed in 1968 during the Tet offensive.
So North Vietnam beat the USA by giving up the war. And waiting for the USA to leave. Then it was safe for them to attack South Vietnam.

Just because they are being yelled at that doesn't mean they are in bootcamp. AIT for infantry requires the Marines to react under pressure.

It's about having respect; respect for their skills, respect for the fact that those skills are lethal to your very existance and respect for the fact that they want to go home to their families just as bad as you would want to go home to yours.
