  • interesting voice

  • JAmes Iha butchered this song.......and the song was dark enough as it was....

James cant sing and I wish he would just stop.

  • Why did both Billy Corgan II and Robert James Smith gift their IMDB page to Veronica Grey???

  • Horrible. i really tried to like it but it is what it is.

  • pumpkins take the cures dark song covered in pop and strip it down to it's dark reality. pretty good.

  • I love Iha's cover!

  • I can´t stop listening this song... is so awesome o,..,O

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • it's a good cover . I honestly didn't even know cure had a song called a night like this.

  • There's not a single tuned note here.

  • i kinda like it james rocks

  • The people saying this isn't a good cover are fools. This is the best Pumpkins cover, hands down.

  • rubbish !!!!!!!!

  • heard so many versions now :) like this one mind

  • I hated it when I first listened to it and now it's growing on me!

  • what if Billy sang this...it would be better though...but nice try, James.... :)

  • buuhh pitiful

  • brb, making a better cover

  • james iha sucks at vocals

  • @The1stchavez listen to Go by the pumpkins. You might change your mind.

  • @The1stchavez he's okay he does pretty good on "take me down". but he holds it down as the backup singer/guitarist

  • no its not a good cover

  • I fucking love this song,it's so amazing.

The best song on the 2nd disc of the Airplane Flies High.

  • my fave version

  • Actually I think this cover sucks

  • Really good interpretation of an awesome Cure song. Head in the Door was one of the best albums The Cure ever released.

  • such a beautiful song. i kinda like the smashing pumpkins cover a little better.

  • James Iha is so underrated.

  • good cover :)

  • One of the best Cure songs EVER

  • Real Cure Fans (from the beginning) don't say DUDE.

  • @groesa59 Yeah... um.... stop being an ignorant dumb ass

  • @groesa59 Says who? Your old ass?

  • That's right, poseur!

  • @groesa59 You're older than my parents. Do you know how sad it is for you to still be playing these 'who's a real goth' games at your age?

  • @AptivaXL I am the same age as Robert Smith, who wrote this song (and still performs sold-out shows) and just 8 years older than Billy Corgan, who covers it here. Obviously someone taught you your good taste in music - your parents, maybe?

  • @groesa59 Yeah I know how old Smith is. Actually I taught myself good taste. This stuff was all on MTV2 a few years back :) You need to relax.

  • @groesa59 James Iha (of The Smashing Pumkins) took up covering this. That isn't Billy Corgan singing.

  • @AptivaXL That's right, poseur!

  • Trash!!

  • is this a cover by Smashing Pumpkins? doesn't sound like Billy Corgan at all...

  • @SMWhizKid Its James Iha singing! :)

  • @do00p oh! nice =)

  • @SMWhizKid its the guitarist james iha

  • Interesting!

  • very niice cover

  • nice

  • anyone ever heard Wayne Hussy's cover of this? what do you think??

  • this

  • Agree with you, kiba2001! Great cover, SP didn't spoil the song at all. I didn't expect that such a song could be re-sung in so good way.

  • fajne

  • i have this box too :)

  • this song has probably one of the best lrics ever made.

  • Arrangement=yes Iha's voice=not so much..

  • Guys it's a cover. It's supposed to be their own version of an already existing song, not for the intention of being better than the original but just because they can. Why is everyone so sensitive about their taste in music anyway? If someone disagrees then you don't convince with caps lock and exclamation marks.

  • I love this song singed by Robert Smith because he howls and screams and actually feels what he's singing, I truly believe him when he sings...

I think that he sings as a desperate child :p

    Love the cure!

  • this cover is bland as fuck. if you want a good cover of this song then listen to professional murder music's cover

  • wait, this doesnt sound like Billy's voice...

  • @Giostarship its james singin.

  • @Giostarship its not its hitlers

  • No, nonoononononon, no, no!!! nooooooooooooo!!!

  • I actually like this cover. Though, certainly Iha dosent have singing chops like Robert Smith.

  • I really can't stand Iha's vocals. And whoever called him SP's lead guitarist should get a clue.

  • @endocry LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO :)

  • bad, compared to the original by The Cure. Smashing Pumpkins are alright, but not with this one, sorry.

  • crappy version- original is much bettere than this

  • Must agree. It´s two awesome bands, but not really comparable.

  • Don't try to compare the cure and smashing pumpkins just because they made a cover . =/

  • why does it sounds like u don't even believe ur own words?

A cover of any band can be better an original... it's just cool sometimes to hear a different version.

  • @birdmadboy Uhhh...what? All I said was I like this version better...why wouldn't I believe those words?

  • tastes can be weirds sometimes then... this cover is flat and brings nothing to me.

  • do you seriously think Iha got up one morning and decided he would try to sing ANLT better than James Iha? No. He sung it as a tribute to Robert Smith/The Cure and a treat for fans of both bands.

Why don't you find something better to do with your life you fanny.

  • James should quit trying to sing and do what he does best, being a huge douche.

  • It is the smashing pumpkins, the vocals are being done by the lead guitar player James Iha.

I acually kind of like the depth of this cover,

But it doesnt come to me as a shock it is only a B-side, But i still really like it, james is really pitchy but we already knew that from (take me down *to the underground*)

  • it is the Pumpkins but i think Iha is singing this one a cover version (The Cure)

    i have c.d. single.

    :)

  • ah nice. i had heard he sang a few songs but had never heard any until now then. :)

  • Yes, it is. It's from the Aeroplane Flies High box set. It's James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain singing. A simple Google search would have told you that.

  • @stillmoonmachine Love the Cure, live for the Pumpkins.

  • love this cover

  • the cure is better

  • awesome song

    but ..

well i dont need to tell which version's better i guess

  • my fav is def landslide

  • Oh no sorry. More moaning than singing in an estimated tempo of 50 bpm. The solo guitar is the only desired highlight. C'mon Smashing Pumpkins did better covers.

  • I actually love the whole idea of this cover including its tempo but the vocals are SO out of tune, it's just a little too much

  • I first heard this track on a borrowed copy of the box set when I was hospitalized on my 21st birthday.. ..the dark tone SP gave it resonated with my soul at a time when I thought I was dying. It compelled me to give both Smashing Pumpkins and the Cure a second chance (until then I only listened to classic rock and hard rock ^_^). A lot of people are bitching about this track, but it always makes me feel the same emotions I felt hearing it for the first time on that hospital bed.

  • @someghost121 ur heart longs for more.. ur soul is not satisfied with just this life. mark these words

  • This song is writen by The Cure

  • I love this song too, but it was written by The Cure and covered by the Pumpkins.

  • Aw

    then whos singing then?

  • erm, no, you've got it the wrong way round. This song is by The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins did a cover of it.

  • It Cant Be Smashing Pumpkins thats not Billy`s Voice. Is thi a Joke'? T&he Version Is not Bad But I dont Like The Liers.

  • its robert smith of the cure

  • no its not haha..its his song but james iha is singing it

  • ohh lol sorry my mistake i thought it was both of em singing it smith at the start then iha

  • haha some how at the beginnin it sounds kinda like tht doode from pink floyd haha not allot like him but kinda like em :]

  • this is james iha singing, their original rhythm guitarist.

  • Is it? it doesn't sound at all like it does in The Boy =O

  • haha yupp

  • hahaha its james iha, one of the guitarist from sp :P

  • omg love this! thank you so much fir posting it! :)

  • ignorant fucks it has the same effect as the original but has been tranlated into the samshing pumpkins meloncholic way

  • @LukeBailey182 I thought The Cure was already melancholic ?

  • yea i mean both bands are but they both still have their own way of expressing it and both both bands have done an a great job of showing that but pumpkins have managed to take the song and alter it their way with the same effect but in a different style

  • I dont mind the Pumpkins stuff but saying that there is no way you can compare this version even close to The Cures. Sorry ...

  • even better than the original

  • agreed cat, absolutely NOT better.

  • ...no.

  • one of the best cure songs and this is a pretty decent cover

  • Wow, this is a really good cover. It seems like so many bands/people who try to cover The Cure lose the melancholic feeling. The Smashing Pumpkins managed to make this song their own, and still retain the same magic that's in the original.

  • @Skatingisgood Then you must check out Nebelhexe's cool cover of The Figurehead! :-)

  • awesome cover

  • fantastic !!!

  • The guitar tones are fucking perfect. I always had this in my collection, but a recent look at a proffessional murder music cover of the cures a night like this brough me back

  • I love this song, the tone of his voice is beautiful.

  • James is Underrated his voice matches well with all the Pumpkins songs he sang!!!!!!!!!!

  • who's singing?

  • James Iha

  • Very good :)

  • noob

  • i hear violin or cello. is that d'arcy?

  • sounds like a cello, but i feel like i hear a viola in tehre as well, could be a violin though what do i know, haha

  • This is really a good cover. I like it and I don't hear very many good Cure covers.

  • Here I was bracing myself to hear Billy Corgan sing this but what a pleasant surprise.

  • awesome cover! it sounds dark like best smashing pumpkins times...

  • I thought the Live version in Show was bad... I was wrong.

  • Geo...

  • robert's voice actually kinda pisses me off..seems sort of like hes faking it..just my opinion..however blasphemous it may sound to you die hard cure fans. i love this cover..especially after it gets going a bit.

  • well i really can't understand you disliking robert's voice, but i think this is a pretty good cover. they didn't just copy it and instead added their own style! normally i hate covers...

  • Yeah, and James's voice is SO beautiful... I guess it's a subjective matter of taste...

  • it's a really interesting cover of Nike Like THis i like S.P. and i love Cure.

  • this box set of the smashing pumpkins, is really fantastic.

  • gets really good around 2:50

  • I like it

  • 1 of my favourite Cure songs of all time - this cover is pretty good

  • This is a tribute to The Cure by James Iha. He isn't trying to be better than him (how could he be?). If you knew anything about the pumpkins you'd know Billy and James are big Cure fans, and most of their early pre-Jimmy stuff was very Cure like.

  • I really like what they did with the music, but it probably would have been better if Billy had sang it. And yes, Robert is better.

  • This version stinks.

  • ah it's not that bad, it's just no place near as good as the cure obviously

  • This song is for hardcore Pumpkin fans. They don't care if random people think its a horibble cover or whatever. Its a geat cover IMO.

  • DUDE as a Cure fan I FEEL IT'S A GREAT COVER, in my opinion it gives the song a great twist, besides the pumpkin fan inside me also tells me "god is it intresting to hear James sing"

  • Not bad, but Robert Smith sang it way better. The singer here does a nice job, but it can't match the original vocals.

But not bad all the same.

  • me encantaban los Smashing ,pero el Iha podía haberse estado calladito.

    Esta versión es una porquería.

  • If you don't have this CD set, I feel really bad for you.

  • It's my prized possession and I feel the same way.

  • This version is very good !!!

  • Good work destroying a really good song!

  • But I really think Pumpkins' best cover is Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again"!

  • James sings throughout the song......nice cover...really dark....cello fits perfect

  • Yea I love the pumpkins but the cure version is more emotive

  • Not bad,but cure's version has a lot more power and feeling.

  • i like your name...ahahah

  • not bad but not awesome too :)

  • nice cover definitely, does james and billy switch off with vocals a few times throughout the song?

    like james sings verses

    and billy sings chorus??

  • good choice,but result disappoiting

  • Is James Iha

  • Is Billy singing?? The cover is ok... it gets better after a while... Love Pumpkins an the Cure!

  • O P I N I O N, it's not right or wrong.

  • Can someone please post "The Bells"???

  • If you dont like the cover, dont listen to it.

    Stupid. Duh.

  • Werd Robert Smith is 100% better

  • bad!

  • That is not Billy singing, it is James Iha! DUUUH

  • oh i thought it was Norm MacDonald

  • LMAO!!!! or bill stein!!! "bueller? bueller?"

  • xD lol bill stein!

  • Come on! Who is saying that this is even comparable with the original version?... Billy has almost no strength singing this song. He moans, he doesn't sing.
