Maybe it's cause i'm stoned right now but I felt like I was watching the Muppets when they play in their band, especially when the shaggy haired dude was playing the rhodes keyboard.
Great performance! what a great sounding acoustic guitar. Gibson Hummingbird, my favourite acoustic guitar to play for sure, and they do sound the best
this song is like the situation in my country that is experiencing many problems??? , I like the lyrics not just on one issue but on many of the arguments that we should dig move forward songs with radio head and continue working,,,
@useless987 i was going to say the same thing. I think i might prefer this arrangement with the rhodes instead of that upright he usually plays on this tune.
@johnqpublic2718 I think they're both great. There are different reasons to love the piano version and the love version. A little change can make a huge difference. Great lesson here.
People that make really amazing music always look like their suffering. Almost like their gift as a lyricist or musician is more of a burden rather than a gift.
@Howieeeeex reading this reminded me of yorke talking about Street Spirit and that he has to detach himself from what he is singing in that song or he would break down on stage.
@Howieeeeex Musicians and artists aren't "gifted." Gifted implies that they have not worked hard, and have received a magical skill. Rather, they ARE suffering. You will never have any idea how hard they have sacrificed to gain the skill and talent they have earned.
@moneyquickeasy What about Steven Wilson, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Stuart Braithwaite, Jamie Stewart, Belinda Butcher, Robin Pecknold, Syd Barrett, Mark Hollis, Ed Droste, James Blake, Phil Elvrum, and Jonsi? They all look miserable & they all make/made amazing music.
@BruisedEyeSockets I don't know about any of those people except for Buckley (the great Buckley). And I think his expression fits the emotional vibe of the song, as it should. But did he look miserable, do I think? No. In any case, if artists were miserable performing on stage, they wouldn't be doing it.
I wanted Letterman´s introduction. "Tonight´s guest is a rock n roll band (Always says rock n roll no matter what the gengre :P) and their new CD Ok Computer was just released. Please welcome... Radiooo...head!"
The idea of god has brought about centuries of war and strife on the inside.
The existence of Radiohead has brought a decade or two of beautiful music and albums we wish to remember forever. Uniting music lovers and introducing those to the concept of music.
Can't we enjoy music without adolescents or barely post-pubescent angst ridden college kids speaking to how "awful" religion and God is.
And I'm not particularly religious, I'm just tired of people complaining about religion. If I want to hear about how bad religion and God is, I'll go ask a freshmen in high school.
Radiohead = A very very good band comprised of real human beings.
There, I fixed yours, you're welcome. (You wanted to change the discourse from clearly casual and humorous remarks to something more serious, there you go.)
Fuck it, I'm going to come right out and say it. I have been a sucker for his lazy eye and how it starts to look when he begins to smile slowly when singing. Since the "fake plastic trees" video. That was longer ago than most think. And if you were there along with it to. Shit, we are getting old. But that's okay...
I had a dream i was walking chilling with Thom york we where talking about different bass sounds and tones stuff was great dream. until this punk came out and called us creep and shit they wanted money i fought them 3 guys while Thom kicked one of them and we ran of man because they were a whole bunch of punks after us like 22 guys lol and we started to laugh and ran of into a bus and then the alarm sounded and i woke up damn it i would had given my life away to protect Thom lol
This sounds stupid, but i have to say it: Am I the only one who sees a striking similarity between Jonny and Animal the muppet? you know, because of all the hair flopping around....
One of the best live performances of Radiohead singing Karma Police . It's featured on "Meeting People is Easy". They look so in control and confident at such a young age. Thats what they learnt from the public school their parents paid for. I guess thats why they aren't very popular with the working classes. i like them but they were/are very privileged.............unlike the rest of us.
I think Thom was much more concerned about singing the songs accurately and well back in the day. It seems his live performances are a little weaker nowadays.
It's great to see a relatively young Radiohead, playing one of the best songs to have ever come out, off of the greatest "album ever;" and see where they are today. Still setting the mark for all other bands to follow.
watching these guys perform is crazy its like Thom is in a different world i wonder what goes on in his head. anyways there great live unlike some bands keep rocking radiohead!
Radiohead originally put this song into OK computer as a light hearted one, kind of a joke to lighten up the darkened mood of the middle of the album but I still think its without doubt one of the best songs in their repitroire, and my favourite.
It's just a delay tweak. If you have a delay pedal with the feedback turned up, and then you tweak the Time control while a signal is going through it, it's warps the audio (making that sound).
if you are talking about the swirling sound its a guitar delay pedal that ed has on a rack mount. he turns the time on the delay up so that the repeats become closer together, hence the swirling sound
In Meeting people is easy, you can see Thom was angry because they had twenty minutes to practice the song but they didn't let him five minutes to tune his guitar and after all the performance was brilliant
ORIGINALLY the pianist? no he wasn't, he was ORIGINALLY chosen as they needed a guitarist - quickly promoted to Lead guitarist and classiclly trained so just played everything
Maybe it's cause i'm stoned right now but I felt like I was watching the Muppets when they play in their band, especially when the shaggy haired dude was playing the rhodes keyboard.
