  • Definately a classic sci-fi.

  • I don't know why but this is really one of my favourite movies

    It is just so dark

  • When my dad saw this in the theater when he was young, the projectionist was really bad. In the scene were Robby the Robot was carrying a ton of lead and was asking were to put it, somebody shouted out "Drop it on the projectionist".

  • GEORGE LUCAS TOTALLY COPIED THE YELLOW TEXT GOING OFF INTO SPACE FROM THIS TRAILER!!!!!

  • Can someone tell me what he says after "Whats a bathing suit?" ...Sounds like huh huh murder... Anyways this is really cool looking... Reminds me of Fallout which was done in the similar style.

  • @csheff15 He says, "Oh, murder." It was a common expression in the 50's (maybe a little out of place in the far-off future, eh?) :-)

  • @GreatBigSea1968 Ok good, so I am not going crazy... Thanks for the reply, I really need to check this out... Its on my required viewing list that I got when I became a card carrying nerd =]

  • @csheff15 If you have access to Blu-ray, the colors in this movie will blow you away. I've been watching this movie for at least 30 years, but seeing it in hi-def was liking seeing it for the first time. Go! Watch it! :-)

  • hehehe... Leslie Nielsen's credits come only just above "The Robot". Ouch.

  • 1:17 I simply hate how some of these otherwise serious 1950s movies feel they need to have "comic relief" . . . with goofy comic relief music.

  • @greenrate

luckily the actual movie doesnt go in for comic music.

the score (the very first electronic film score BTW) is very surreal and eerie.

    it's great stuff!

  • I'm searching for a movie with robots looking like children on a planet in outer space. They were fighting with the humans out there.I'll be glad if someone cloud tell me the name of that movie

  • what year was it launched?

  • @ifanf it was released in 1950 ;)

  • Yes, I remember this film. I had the lasagna.

  • I like this old movie, seen it numerous times over the past decades, isn't this Leslie Nielsen's first movie? And I remember the robot that took minutes to process a response.

  • One of my favorite sci-fi classics.

  • FW inspired the retrofeel of the Fallout-games aswell.

  • @volunteerz "Retrofuturism" is the style. It was inspired by what people of the 50s thought the future would look like

  • love it.

  • A classic!

  • Love that movie

  • Is this like the film version of 'return to the forbidden planet'? or is it just something completely different? xD

  • this is sci-fi greatness

  • Possibly the best science fiction film ever.

  • Makes most other movies of the time (and lots of today's) look like garbage in comparison

  • My fave space flick. Great cast, great effects (thank you former Disney technicians), sweet gal (Ann Francis). Great monster. "Would sixty gallons be sufficient?" Love that Robbie!

  • @ben123wright123 I don't know if you are being serious or what but Forbidden Planet predates Star Wars by about 20 years

  • @ben123wright123 yeah lol 30 years to late though on that rip off lo but I think you know this hehehe

  • Yes, we are lost on a forbidden plant. And don't call me Shirley...

  • i love this film, one of the all time greats of sci fi movies.saw this as a kid and it blew me away.i still cant believe how young leslie nielson looks in the movie and he is great in it.

  • Youtube is a bastion of ignorance. Every movie I query on here the top comment is "Thumbs up if you're here because of _______". Seriously stop watching whatever formulaic prime time drama you're religiously tuning in to and Netflix some movies. And when I say movies I don't mean Harry Potter.

  • Seems so boring...

  • Good actress m shame she passed away.

  • @moya138 I liked her in that Twilight Zone episode.

  • @mohinderbauer Which one was that.

  • @moya138 The episode is called "After Hours." I won't tell you any more, lest I spoil the episode.

  • "what's a bathing suit?"

  • I was playing metal gear solid 3 when the medic said something about this movie, so I YouTube it and wow it's real :p

  • Robby invented the Spa.

  • None of this trailer music is heard in the film. It had an all electronic music soundtrack in 1956. It's awesome.

  • Science Fiction - Double Feature

Dr. X will build a creature

See androids fighting Brad and Janet

Anne Francis stars in Forbidden Planet

Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show.

  • @cosimoRah by rko...oh hoooooooooo.... to the late night, double featuer, pictuer showwwwwwwwww.....

  • minus the "faster than light spaceship of the future", we already ahve better technology than them :P

  • i hope this movie won't be remaked

  • @colzimo Yeah, no doubt. I think any remake would be atrocious.

  • holy heck! leslie nielson was hot back then! i miss him.

  • 20 miles, 7800 levels. That would be about 105.076923 feet per level.

  • and don't call me Shirley

  • 2:57 reminds of star trek, those weird little chevron things

  • parts of the soundtrack sound just like the sounds of saturns rings released by NASA less than ten tears ago, but how?

  • francis stars in... forbidden planet oh oh ohhhohhhh ohhhh at the late night double feature picture show!

  • "... This faster than light spaceship of the future" *spaceship buzzes slowely by* xD

  • The Robot looks like the one from 'Lost in space'.

  • @Dazman1313 The same person designed the LIS Robot B9.

  • Its dated, but still watchable because of the storyline.

  • Anyone who says Lucas ripped this off is stupid. He was paying homage to these kinds of films by making a film that harkened back to them. Indiana Jones does the exact same thing. Even Shakespeare did this. It's all in the execution, not the components!

  • oh ho ho, murder!

  • George Lucas has never had an original idea. 3:13 and 0:07 Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @CommissionerBele I hear Star Wars was highly influenced by a cross between several samurai films and flash gordon..

  • @DoctorChibi740 The Hidden Fortress mainly

  • I'm not sure if I want to watch this, it's really outdated now, and my main interest is Leslie Nielsen

  • RIP,

    Leslie Nielsen.

  • Wow, I thought Leslie was born with grey hair

  • So this is what Castle and Beckett watched at the Angelica on their date

  • Comment removed

  • I just watched castle and typed it in :D i wanted to know how the film is! i mean when beckett loves it ;)okay... how cute is that robot?! : D

  • @PfelliPfirelli Haha seriously, Beckett was so much excited over this. Seems like i need to watch this now :D

  • I just watched castle and typed it in :D i wanted to know how the film is! i mean when beckett loves it ;)

  • Thumbs if you just watched "castle" and typed it in

  • @LeonardoPieroDaVinci I soooo did just now

  • @cidesplague ya pretty good episode?

  • @LeonardoPieroDaVinci I was wondering how many people we are :)

  • @LeonardoPieroDaVinci lol! Right on the spot.

  • Caskett <3

  • Why did everyone in that era have the SAME EXACT VOICE?!

  • everyone who reads my comment SAY NO TO THE REMAKE OF THIS CLASSIC SCI FI HOLLYWOOD HAS 2 STOP NOW WITH THEESE SHITTY REMAKES

  • @EpicF4iLx23 If you don't like a remake don't watch it...

  • One of my favourite sci-fi movie! it's 54 years old but i still enjoy watching it!

  • My Fav Sci-Fi

  • Yes, the ID was sinister and eerie, quite unerving as a kid. Ahead of its time.

  • The intro is just like star wars, and at 3:12 I notice a scene from episode I, anyone agree?

  • A classic amongst the classics. And the first movie to use a synthesizer for its music.

  • DOES SOMETHING BIG HAPPEN AT THE END?????, i watched the first half or so a while ago and i got bored so i stopped, SHOULD I WATCH IT ALL?????

  • @bentotheclarke ummm probably.... How can you only watch half an hour? Forbidden Planet is a great film.

  • @bentotheclarke definitely! it's a great sci-fi classic!

  • this movie must have been so epic back in the 50's.

  • This scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. The Shame

  • If it wasn't for Robby the Robot

    then fallout 3 wouldn't have

    those robots called Protectrons

    Thank you Robby

  • Anne Francis stars in Forbidden Planet

  • That 'Krell Monster' scared the shit out of me when I was a kid

  • In the top five classic sci fi movies, right up there with day the earth stood still. The storyline of this movie is top notch sci fi and just screams out for modern special f/x. ... with the right director. Someone like James Cameron. However I'd be afraid they'd fuck it up like they did with the ...earth stood still remake. And of course you wouldn't be able to have a surprise at the end like the original.

  • bethesda could'nt think of their own robots for fallout 3.

  • Such a great movie. It is such a classic.

  • Love this movie! Will miss Leslie Neilsen and Anne Francis very much.RIP and god bless.

  • "Nice beaver."

    RIP Mr. Neilsen

  • R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen and Anne Francis.

  • ; Thank You! Anne Francis, and rest in peace.

  • RIP the beautiful Anne Francis aka Honey West!

  • Watched her in Twilight Zone marathon over the weekend, then caught her in Forbidden Planet again last night. Always loved her. For the first time I looked her up on IMDB and was so pleased to see she was still living. Ironic I guess.

    Rest in Peace

  • Watched her in Twilight Zone marathon over the weekend, then caught her in Forbidden Planet again last night. Always loved her. For the first time I looked her up on IMDB and was so pleased to see she was still living. Ironical I guess.

    Rest in Peace

  • RIP Anne Francis...thank you for sharing your talent.

  • RIP the beautiful Anne Francis. Sniff.

  • RIP the beautiful Anne Francis. Sniff.

  • If it is possible, this seven year old fell in love at the Vern theater in Los Angeles California, one Sunday afternoon many years ago. Miss Francis was an angel, starring in what I thought was a movie of epic proportions. Yesterday, not realizing she had passed, I watched Forbidden Planet for the jillionth time, enjoying it's every moment. She will live forever.

  • Farewell Altaira this January 3, 2010. Forever you live in our imaginations. Your beauty is eternal.

  • Rest In Peace Anne...

  • wow this movie seems ground breaking and many of its elements "borrowed" by future space epics....i wish I could see it on a big screen....

  • RIP Anne Francis & Leslie Nilsen

  • RIP Anne Francis, 80.

  • george lucas totally ripped off the intro to this movie

  • Dear Hao Wen Xiang,

On that planet..where the only inhabitants are"Dr.Morbious & his daughter"?

Who needs a bathing suit or even cares?(LOL).

  • RIP Leslie

    RIP Enrico Palazzo

  • RIP Leslie Nielsen! We'll miss you.

  • Ok now this may seem crazy but ever since I saw the my first episode of Sealab 2021, I always kinda wanted to see a live action movie just cuz I thought Leslie Neilsen would be the best Captain Murphy.

  • May you rest in peace Mr. Nielsen, your work lives on.

  • R.I.P. Leslie Neilsen and God Bless you.

  • Is it just me, or does Neilsen look a bit like Daniel Craig?

  • @BraceletAccumulatrT2 He does!!!!! could you imagine an older Daniel craig doing funny movies?? or Leslie Nielsen portraing James Bond????

  • :( we'll miss you Leslie Neilson.... From Sci Fi classic to Police Squad Cop!

  • RIP to Surely......you will be missed.

  • holy shit!!!! the robot looks exactly like a protectron. i guess they came up with it first tho, as this movie is from the 50's.

  • @playergod626 He was first made for this movie, but they used "Robby the robot" in a bunch of other movies and TV shows.

  • @sixthsonofsevensins the guy was a legend simple as that "forbidden planet" and then everything else he did straight wise and comic wise makes him a legend.

  • Classic movie and trailer!!! Rest in peace, Leslie Nielsen.

  • A Titan of an actor has passed on. Rip to you sir, Leslie Nielsen, you have given me so many good memories. I hope you will be very well remembered during the movie awards in 2011, i'm looking forward to seeing you on the big screen again to view some of your greatest achievements. Aurevoir, vous etes formidable.

  • First time I saw this movie my dad had to point out who the captain was. I would have never known. I loved Leslie Nielson. May he RIP

  • my favorite sci-fi from my childhood in the '50's...RIP Leslie Nielsen

  • Rest in peace, Mr. Nielsen.

  • whats a bathing suit?!

  • Lol. They named the robot, "The Robot." its funny seeing someone in their young years, when for so long you grew up seeing them when they had grey hair and were older. So at first you don't recognize them cause they are young but then you look harder and go, oh that does look like Leslie Nielson

  • @rowsdower12

Actually, it was Lost in Space that named the robot "the Robot" (tho fans know it as a B9 robot).

In the movie "Forbidden Planet," the robot is named (and called) "Robby."

    From transcript (Robby speaking):

For your convenience, I am monitored

to respond to the name "Robby."

I'm with ya on Leslie Nielson. I know it's him, but so many years ago!

  • @TheThirdEdge Thanks for the info. Good to know. I don't know too much about these movies. but they seem entertaining and cool. So see how they interpet the future backt then.

  • 0:50 - J.J. Adams? Or J.J. Abrams? Where are all the lens flares then!

  • To be in this sci-fi classic and to be remembered by another generation as a comedian is a " good epitaph " for any man.

Leslie, you were a good man, a good actor and a terrific comedian. There were very few of you.

BTW, thanks Canada, for the two best sci-fi captains ever !

  • RIP Leslie Nielsen

  • Best. Scifi. Ever.

  • the beginning reminds me of the beginning texts of Star Wars xD

  • RIP Les.. you made us all laugh... unitil today.

  • RIP Leslie Nielsen.

  • Is this supposed to be a comedy?

  • @fewoifhiu3hfklew

No and this is the only movie that Leslie Nielsen played in a serious role.

  • @EvilFingers Lesley Nielsen was apparently in lots of serious roles before he was a comedy actor.

  • @fewoifhiu3hfklew : No it's a damn good scifi movie !

  • remembered it from the movie Forbidden Planet R.I.P

  • He will be missed. Forbidden Planet is my favorate early sci-fi Leslie Neilsen was great. Look how many feature stars played in this classic. RIP.

  • That robot looks like a "lost in space" predecessor, or knockoff...

  • @bigbengamer The Lost In Space robot was a knock off of Robby.

  • @bigbengamer actually this robot was made before the one in lost in space was made though that robot was cool too but this robot was famous for being in a few movies and its own tv series i forget the name of it though in will have to look it up

  • Yes, one of my fav actors, just this week watched Forbidden Planet, will be missed... RIP Leslie x
