When my dad saw this in the theater when he was young, the projectionist was really bad. In the scene were Robby the Robot was carrying a ton of lead and was asking were to put it, somebody shouted out "Drop it on the projectionist".

The storyline of this movie is top notch sci fi and just screams out for modern special f/x. ... with the right director. Someone like James Cameron. However I'd be afraid they'd fuck it up like they did with the ...earth stood still remake. And of course you wouldn't be able to have a surprise at the end like the original.
