Today I shot a scene from my zombie movie and I wanted crisp movement to create some tension. I remembered this video and I brought my shutter speed up. It really added a lot to the feel I wanted to get! Thanks so much for the help!
You guys are machines, uploading one great stuff after another! People ask me for basic DSLR tutorials, and I have no need to, since there are great ones like this one I can refer to.
very good, neumann films came with the tutorials, that's great, although I already know how to use the shutter, I'm very glad you're back with the tutorials.
VERY informative... just picked up a T2i with a 50mm f/1.8 lens based on your videos using the camera and lens... so thanks for these great videos explaining the ins and outs for us DSLR amateurs...
Another great tut guys! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and technique. This will come in handy soon as it looks like I will be jumping onto the DSLR bandwagon with a T2i. Looking forward to future tuts!
It was great to see you guys incorporate humor in a unique way without detracting from the educational stuff - setting this in the woods with random furniture, petting the cat(?), really holding off on any overt joking until the end...entertaining, and informative. Can't wait to see more.
LOL on the "torch" ending. Way to disrupt the class Pete :) And thank you for the shutter speed Tut. Great help in understanding blur effect and action shots.
Great tutorial guys! This one is definitely one to remember! I have one question though; For instance say you're filming on a very bright and sunny day with a low shutter speed at 100 ISO. If I would want to keep a very small depth of field, I shouldn't increase the F stop too much to compensate for the lighting, but that in turn overexposes the shot... Is there a way to get around that problem without the use of any filters?
@TheRickerX Not really, I mean one of the main two (Shutter or FStop) needs to be sacrificed to expose properly. ND filters are awesome man. I will be doing a gear review on here soon of the one I bought and it allows you to shoot 1/50th, f 1.8, ISO 320 in direct sunlight...crazy!
@Neumannfilms Awesome, can't wait for the review! I did recently buy a cheapy ND filter from Dealextreme, just to see what it could do. But it has a lot of color shifting... I guess that's what you get when you buy cheap crap, hehe!
So in still or very slow movement shots the shutter speed could be higher without a problem, but in a fast continuous movement shots we have to slower the shutter speed to 100 or 125 so we can "Mask" the Jellow effect. Great.
By the way I love the High Saturation Color at the end with the torch.
@videotitan1 Yeah, any movement at all and you will see that the Shutter Speed is faster though. It all depends on what mood you want to convey. Fast Shutter Speed to me always screams "hectic action" or "intensity". Whereas 1/50th with the motion blur is sort of soothing to the viewer.
Very very nice! Thanks.

That's why i have a DSLR and a cheaper sony camera.
With good color correction it looks like it's the same camera in fast/short clips and you don't have the rolling shutter.
