I dont understand how a fighter can be classified as a stealth fighter and have its weapons on the outside pylons. Su-47 had limited stealth like the Super Hornets and the F-15SE Silent Eagle
It's all about the overall radar cross-section. I think that Su-47 had an internal revolver rack for 4-6 missiles but I'm not sure. Materials used were composites and polymers and with radar absorbing properties. PAK FA will carry all of his weapons internally and will be a true "stealth" fighter with very low radar cross-section.

Im from Australia and we were Boeings first customer for the Super Hornets Block 2. We are getting rid of out F-111's. We will have the Super Hornets to bridge the gap til the JSF arrives. Cant wait to see them in action and airshows with the RAAF.
My personal opinion is that F-35 is seriously down an many basic capabilities that are essential for its survival in modern combat. Its already vulnerable to current SAMs that have a guidance that uses all frequencies simultaneously for guidance. Its range is not superior to F-111 without tanks. Manuverability-wise it wouldn't beat a basic hornet, never mind a Sukhoi. Amount of weapons is tiny. Single engine. Its slow. for strike, F-15SE would be equally good and cheaper. Best choice is Su-34
@Spetsnazovets today is an era of avionics, the plane does the job the pilot used to do long ago. thats why avionics are classfied, you only know the baisc but you dont know whats going on inside his balls. about manuverability, when you have missiles like python 5 , who needs manuverability? the idea of F-35 is the avionics its has, sure it lacks superior manuverability, or perfect stealth and doesnt have alot of storage but its not that bad too
F-22 has both Stealth and traditional capabilities thats why it murders F-35. F-35 will be seen by radars that use L-band and below and hence engaged at BVR. It will be in a "no-escape-zone of missiles a lot sooner and escape later thanks to its kinematic deficiencies.

@davidds0 Because Syria has virtually no air defence left after 1973 and 1982. Also Syrian military is hopelessly obsolete. Their MiGs have long ago exhausted their life hours and barely fly if at all. They have virtually no SAMs any more. Also the raid by F-16s was planned very well and flown in a way where they would avoid detection. Stelath merely enables for wider corridors or make those if they don't exist. In Syria those corridors are many miles wide.

well why change a perfected shape? Great aerodynamics, awesome range, manueverability, internal space for things. ease of modification, up to 14-missile capability ( gotta sacrifice ECM pods for that though) or 8000kg of bombs. And massive reserves for multirole use. If it ain't broke - don't fix it :) There are fighters, bombers, interceptors, record variants, can do so much!
Ive read countless articles on people who love it and hate it. Every weapon system has that argument time and again just like the M-16 rifle did now its used extensively. Wait til the F-35 comes out. With further future improvements it will be a must have aircraft.
If you want a carrier you gota have the F-35 B or C variant. Super Hornets are ageing just like the F-15. I dont agree with you on the Hornet manuvering better then the F-35. Hornets are bomb trucks as refered to by its pilots. F-15, F-16 ye. If i was setting up an air force id never base it mainly on the F-35 however. Rather have 4th and 4.5 gen fighters. And that STOVL B variant, heard its got its own issues. Range, payload etc.

I'm American and I love both fighters, SU35 and F22 even though they are in separate classes and I still think it's a better comparison to compare the SU35 to the F15 Eagle but there is one thing I got to say I despise about the SU35.
It's size. All Flanker variants are just so huge. I have friends who fly F15s and have participated in joint exercises with India, ones with the SU30. In those dogfights, the Flanker's huge size gave it such a huge cross section they got AMRAAMs on them real fast

A F-22 would rock a Su-35 anyday....anytime. The russians specially modify these fighters with ballast in order to make the perform these maneuvers.The cobra maneuver that you hear so much about is a direct result of these mods. They would never fly these jets in combat. The 22 however can perform these maneuvers right out of the factory. I won't even begin to talk about the avionics suite and the fire control systems in the 22 because there is really no comparison.

a f-35 can shoot down an enemy plane from a much longer range then the su-35 can...and do you know why?? there is something called TECHNOLOGY which lockheed martin use in their planes.
What's so phenomenal is how simple these aircraft are, and look what they can do!
Any one who believes an F-22 could beat one of these one on one clearly knows little about either plane. F-22's advantage is stealth not performance, look it up. + Russia would use these fighters en mass. So that really lowers the chances if an F-22 got spotted. Also they can integrate any of the latest electronics into these fighters quite easily. + they have special radar that defeats the stealth design.
In F-16's. But they have already proven to be inferior even the Mig-29s. We have very few F-22's and the F-15 is about to be retired. But I'm not saying we don't stand a chance, it's just that they can way out produce us if they had to. And that would be quite a challenge for the USAF. Understand?
They would most likely use the Mig-29 en masse, not Su-35s and the predicted kill ratio for just one F-22 is 8 kills against mass of 20 foriegn fighters. i think that's pretty good. and also the low wave radar you are talking about can see stealth aircraft but the missile can rarely even find their target with low wave frequency only high wave so, that means that incident in serbia was a lucky shot. and now you know. But of course you're going to argue with me.
I am well aware of the F-22's capabilities as a stealth fighter. But once they open their weapon doors, they lose much of this stealth. And if an F-22 pilot is close enough to physically see the squadron of Mig-29s or Su-35s, they are in quite a bit of trouble. Thats why F-22s have such good stealth, to give that 1st strike capability. I'm not gonna argue because both are excellent fighters with different characteristics and methods of attack.

A SU35 will not be able to take down a Raptor. Only stupid or patriotic russians belive that. Why? Well, first of all the Raptor can "see" and shoot down the SU35 long before the SU- pilot even know there is a Raptor near by. Second, the SU35 will strugle hard to even lock their weapon systems at a Raptor because of the material and shape of the Raptor. Raptor will dominate air like no other plane before. And we all know how russians airplanes has lost against F-16 earlier.

Add to that an advanced optical and IR system which emits no active signals, and satellite uplink which scans the skys for any threats hundreds kilometers around. Trust me, the SU-35 pilot WILL KNOW about the presence of Raptors in the area. Russian A to A missiles have longer ranges too.

So to really know how to fly a SU-35, you need to be a skilled pilot, and the masters of this plane are Russians. In a dogfight, you will see how a SU-35 beats the Raptor.

Im from Australia and we were Boeings first customer for the Super Hornets Block 2. We are getting rid of out F-111's. We will have the Super Hornets to bridge the gap til the JSF arrives. Cant wait to see them in action and airshows with the RAAF.

My personal opinion is that F-35 is seriously down an many basic capabilities that are essential for its survival in modern combat. Its already vulnerable to current SAMs that have a guidance that uses all frequencies simultaneously for guidance. Its range is not superior to F-111 without tanks. Manuverability-wise it wouldn't beat a basic hornet, never mind a Sukhoi. Amount of weapons is tiny. Single engine. Its slow. for strike, F-15SE would be equally good and cheaper. Best choice is Su-34

@Spetsnazovets today is an era of avionics, the plane does the job the pilot used to do long ago. thats why avionics are classfied, you only know the baisc but you dont know whats going on inside his balls. about manuverability, when you have missiles like python 5 , who needs manuverability? the idea of F-35 is the avionics its has, sure it lacks superior manuverability, or perfect stealth and doesnt have alot of storage but its not that bad too

F-22 has both Stealth and traditional capabilities thats why it murders F-35. F-35 will be seen by radars that use L-band and below and hence engaged at BVR. It will be in a "no-escape-zone of missiles a lot sooner and escape later thanks to its kinematic deficiencies.

@davidds0 Because Syria has virtually no air defence left after 1973 and 1982. Also Syrian military is hopelessly obsolete. Their MiGs have long ago exhausted their life hours and barely fly if at all. They have virtually no SAMs any more. Also the raid by F-16s was planned very well and flown in a way where they would avoid detection. Stelath merely enables for wider corridors or make those if they don't exist. In Syria those corridors are many miles wide.

@friggendude i know about the pods, but i think in syria tehy used a spaciel electronic warfare airplane. also i heard rumers of a use of one of those bombs that puts electronic devices out of work in a big radius too. but in the binladen case, they didnt really need a stealthy aircraft didnt they? im pretty sure pakistan was aware of the helicopter, maybe not about the operation.

well why change a perfected shape? Great aerodynamics, awesome range, manueverability, internal space for things. ease of modification, up to 14-missile capability ( gotta sacrifice ECM pods for that though) or 8000kg of bombs. And massive reserves for multirole use. If it ain't broke - don't fix it :) There are fighters, bombers, interceptors, record variants, can do so much!

If you want a carrier you gota have the F-35 B or C variant. Super Hornets are ageing just like the F-15. I dont agree with you on the Hornet manuvering better then the F-35. Hornets are bomb trucks as refered to by its pilots. F-15, F-16 ye. If i was setting up an air force id never base it mainly on the F-35 however. Rather have 4th and 4.5 gen fighters. And that STOVL B variant, heard its got its own issues. Range, payload etc.

There is a brazilian flag painted on that plane ( 6:33 ), so it was a demo flight to the FX project team (from Brazil), it was in 2002, if I am not wrong. Unfortunally, the stupidity of many persons made the air force give up of buying these Sukhois...

I'm American and I love both fighters, SU35 and F22 even though they are in separate classes and I still think it's a better comparison to compare the SU35 to the F15 Eagle but there is one thing I got to say I despise about the SU35.
It's size. All Flanker variants are just so huge. I have friends who fly F15s and have participated in joint exercises with India, ones with the SU30. In those dogfights, the Flanker's huge size gave it such a huge cross section they got AMRAAMs on them real fast

Today, we look at platforms. We compare systems.
Sensors, airframe and weapons.
The system.

1)Su-35BM has reduced RCS (< 1m2) by using special composite materals, paint and removeing canards. I know nothing about redusing RCS at F-15.
Without redusing:
-F-15 RCS = 25m2
-Flanker's RCS = 10~15m2
2) F-15 and Su-27/30/35 has roughly the same size

A F-22 would rock a Su-35 anyday....anytime. The russians specially modify these fighters with ballast in order to make the perform these maneuvers.The cobra maneuver that you hear so much about is a direct result of these mods. They would never fly these jets in combat. The 22 however can perform these maneuvers right out of the factory. I won't even begin to talk about the avionics suite and the fire control systems in the 22 because there is really no comparison.

What's so phenomenal is how simple these aircraft are, and look what they can do!
Any one who believes an F-22 could beat one of these one on one clearly knows little about either plane. F-22's advantage is stealth not performance, look it up. + Russia would use these fighters en mass. So that really lowers the chances if an F-22 got spotted. Also they can integrate any of the latest electronics into these fighters quite easily. + they have special radar that defeats the stealth design.

In F-16's. But they have already proven to be inferior even the Mig-29s. We have very few F-22's and the F-15 is about to be retired. But I'm not saying we don't stand a chance, it's just that they can way out produce us if they had to. And that would be quite a challenge for the USAF. Understand?

They would most likely use the Mig-29 en masse, not Su-35s and the predicted kill ratio for just one F-22 is 8 kills against mass of 20 foriegn fighters. i think that's pretty good. and also the low wave radar you are talking about can see stealth aircraft but the missile can rarely even find their target with low wave frequency only high wave so, that means that incident in serbia was a lucky shot. and now you know. But of course you're going to argue with me.

I am well aware of the F-22's capabilities as a stealth fighter. But once they open their weapon doors, they lose much of this stealth. And if an F-22 pilot is close enough to physically see the squadron of Mig-29s or Su-35s, they are in quite a bit of trouble. Thats why F-22s have such good stealth, to give that 1st strike capability. I'm not gonna argue because both are excellent fighters with different characteristics and methods of attack.

A SU35 will not be able to take down a Raptor. Only stupid or patriotic russians belive that. Why? Well, first of all the Raptor can "see" and shoot down the SU35 long before the SU- pilot even know there is a Raptor near by. Second, the SU35 will strugle hard to even lock their weapon systems at a Raptor because of the material and shape of the Raptor. Raptor will dominate air like no other plane before. And we all know how russians airplanes has lost against F-16 earlier.

JohnnyGGN, Let's set aside the American patriotism and look at the facts. The SU-35 are now being fitted with with the IRBIS PESA radar, the world's most powerful ever carried aboard a fighter plane. Add to that an advanced optical and IR system which emits no active signals, and satellite uplink which scans the skys for any threats hundreds kilometers around. Trust me, the SU-35 pilot WILL KNOW about the presence of Raptors in the area. Russian A to A missiles have longer ranges too.

To fly a Raptor, you need to push buttons on the computer screen in the cockpit. To fly a SU-35 you have to actually use everything. So to really know how to fly a SU-35, you need to be a skilled pilot, and the masters of this plane are Russians. In a dogfight, you will see how a SU-35 beats the Raptor.

Simulations conducted by British Aerospace and the British Defense Research Agency compared the effectiveness of the Rafale, EF-2000, and F-22 against the Russian Su-35 armed with active radar missiles similar to the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). The Rafale achieved a 1:1 kill ratio (1 Su-35 destroyed for each Rafale lost). The EF-2000 kill ratio was 4:1(4 Su-35's destroyed for each EF-2000 lost)
The F-22 achieved a ratio of 10 to 1. :)

The fact is that the Russians still don't have an answer to the Raptor. The SU-47 Berkut is a demonstration vehicle for the PAK FA or the SU-50 is under R&D, and is supposed to be the Russian answer to the Raptor, but not one has been built.
There is really no US plane that competes with the SU-35, only the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The SU-35 doesn't compete with the Raptor, I think the Raptor would kick its ass.
