@yumyum97 That's because like MK1 Reptile was a pallet swap of Scorpion, Jade was just a pallet swap of Kitana with no moves of her own and no originality but MK3 fixed that and BAM they created one of the greatest female ninjas ever. She my favorite female character (Sonya too).

@505mcasias In japan there is a psx MKII version known as Mortal Kombat II ultimate god fist. it's the only uncensored version of MK II in japan, the problem though is that it uses midi music instead of cd audio.

I privately dissaprove of this hacked rom , because it features combos. One reason why MK2 is one of the best in the series is that a newbie can beat up a veteran -- because there are no combos! All you need to know is the special moves.

I'm a little jealous of this genesis hack.....

I'm also not exactly sure why everyone messes with the Genesis version. I guess people just never happened to notice how friggin' terrible the graphics and sounds are compared to the Super Nes version...

The SNES is widely acknowledged by most people in the industry as having superior audio capability. If you wish, I'm sure I can find some direct quotes from Sega confirming this fact. Meanwhile check a few EGM reviews comparing the Snes and Genesis releases of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

And by Mileena, I mean Mileena. You know, the one with the roll and sky-kick moves being performed in this video.

no, she has some moves of Kitana Too, the other Secret Characters have Own Moves, all fatalities of secret Character are new too...

I only saw her doing Mileena's moves, so if she has some of Kitana's as well then that's not as bad. From the video she only looks like another palette swap.

Still don't know why only the Genesis version gets hacked though. Must be easier I suppose.

I remember Ultimate MK Trilogy was fun enough, I liked the concept, but the engine was just broken. Anything based off of the UMK3 engine is going to cheap. And I remember thinking that I wished they hacked the SNES version instead, for the reasons I reiterate in my earlier comment.

I wonder what it is about the technology that makes the Genesis version easier. I always heard that the SNES was pretty easy to program for, along with Sega's machine.

That's how Jade appeared in the Genesis version unfortunately. I was surprised considering that in all the later games (and in the arcade) she's got darker skin.

If one uses a Game Genie there is a way to play as Smoke and the other two secret characters if I'm not mistaken but it can cause the game to freeze up.

I thought the Genesis version was terrible. The sound effects, missing background elements, blah. They did at least get the names in the energy bar though. Don't know why the SNES version dropped the ball on that.

Strangely enough, the Sega Saturn and Playstation versions of MKII are in a way similar to the Genesis one: They have excellent graphics, but many of the sound or music isn't correct.
