I was also around the area hunting to. One polar bear came right upto the tent an we had to shoot to kill it because the bear was 10ft from were we had our tent an sleeping spot on the ice. We did'nt have to shoot the bear but it was way too close so we took it down. It was only 6am in the morning at the time. The bears also have a good sence of sound like what juuku was saying to the bear an it responded to his sound, pretty kool ha. . .
@ NorthernMostTours: Wow! I listened to the vid again but at a higher volume, and he did say "about a seven footer" LOL. He had an accent, and I was listening to the vid on low, so I didn't understand him the first time, LOL.
It helps to follow the polar bears to find seal. They probably brought a gun with them for the seal. And also if they were threatened by a polar bear the gun is obviously useful then too.
I hope they got some good seal though!
p.s. @adsvkljxcnvlkjsernlk: They were just making silly calls to the bear, that's not their language. I have no clue what he said at the very end though, I don't speak Inuktitut, hehe.
we should of killed it like oour great great grandpas did with spears and leaning back, because white people think that we polluted our culture with not letting ourselves get killed by dangerous as hell bears that kill people every year in Iqualuit and other villages that dont have whale corpses to keep them at bay.
They don't hunt polar bears out of the no where. They only kill them when totally necessary. Like when they come into villages for food. I'm half Inupiaq and half Caucasian, but I'm still in touch with my culture. I've lived in places up North, so I've experienced some.
He was looking through the scope at the bear - not hunting it - they were probably hunting seals - go back to school and learn how to spell so you dont look like an "idiet" LOL
