Yeah, Munchkin cats can jump as high and climb as well as a normal cat. I just got a cute Napolion one a few days ago :)

Just because they have short legs doesn't mean they are handy-capped. Most people compare them to dashund dogs, but cat spines and limbs/joints are built differently than dogs... so they still can do exactly what a cat can, they just have short legs :)

My kitty is only 14 weeks and she's jumped up onto our funiture just as fine as my normal legged 8 year-old tabby.

Judging by their short legs, I doubt they can jump really high...  I'm not 100% sure.

I've seen munchkins jump just as well as other cats. It's not the size of the limbs/muscle, but the elastic strength of their joints that allows their jumping abilities.

Why are people making such a big deal about munchkin cats ? I dont think it makes them any weaker or unable to survive. Teacup animals, I can understand.. those get sick easily and die fast but theres nothing unhealthy about a munchkin cat. I guess theyre kind of like the dachshunds of cats.

Just so you all know, munchkin cats occur naturally with those short legs. Yes some breeders have bred them to make their legs shorter, but even the natural kinda have really short legs, without the spine, hip and shoulder problems of other similar animals eg dashunds. just trying to settle some arguments

Even if it looks "unnatural", it isn't uncomfortable for them. If munchkin cats were more prone to sickness or back problems, I would say they shouldn't be bred, but I personally see nothing wrong with it. Not challenging your opinion, just stating mine.

Radiation wouldn't pass on to future generations. This is a genetic mutation that occured naturally. They are now a registered breed of cat and function normally, they can still run and climb and get along fine.
