Cats are so great! I had this cat one time that would go to the sink when the water was running, stick his head right under it and drink the water falling off his head. It was so funny to watch & he just loved it!
Yeah, Munchkin cats can jump as high and climb as well as a normal cat. I just got a cute Napolion one a few days ago :)
Just because they have short legs doesn't mean they are handy-capped. Most people compare them to dashund dogs, but cat spines and limbs/joints are built differently than dogs... so they still can do exactly what a cat can, they just have short legs :)
My kitty is only 14 weeks and she's jumped up onto our funiture just as fine as my normal legged 8 year-old tabby.
I've seen munchkins jump just as well as other cats. It's not the size of the limbs/muscle, but the elastic strength of their joints that allows their jumping abilities.
Why are people making such a big deal about munchkin cats ? I dont think it makes them any weaker or unable to survive. Teacup animals, I can understand.. those get sick easily and die fast but theres nothing unhealthy about a munchkin cat. I guess theyre kind of like the dachshunds of cats.
Animal lovers: please help stop the cruel breeding of deformed animals like this and FLAG ALL MUNCHKIN POSTS.
This is animal abuse. This animal is a deformed mutant specifically bred to be deformed.
Anyone who participates in this munchkin cat fiasco is a sick twisted freak. These cats cannot jump, climb, chase birds or mice. They are deformed and anyone who buys one or breeds them should be put in jail for animal abuse.
just because they cant jump, climb or chase birds doesn't me they'll suffer their whole lives.
fighting for animal rights like "bonsai kitty" is alright. but you going on youtube saying "flag all munchkin posts" because they're small is just complete ignorance.
Just so you all know, munchkin cats occur naturally with those short legs. Yes some breeders have bred them to make their legs shorter, but even the natural kinda have really short legs, without the spine, hip and shoulder problems of other similar animals eg dashunds. just trying to settle some arguments
Even if it looks "unnatural", it isn't uncomfortable for them. If munchkin cats were more prone to sickness or back problems, I would say they shouldn't be bred, but I personally see nothing wrong with it. Not challenging your opinion, just stating mine.

this is wrong...stop breeding cats for deformities !! stop it...how would like to have two shortened forelegs...if you buy these cats, you are a cruel person...you are not helping anything by buying these, you are creating the demand...stop creating a demand for these...go here
messybeast(dot)com...munchkins or deformed cats...they aren't a natural breed
Who are you to say that a genetic mutation is unnatural? If the gene is there, it probably occurs naturally in the wild. (Maybe not since it's not beneficial to survival.) It IS a dominant gene.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'll repeat what I said, IF YOU BUY THIS CAT, YOU ARE A CRUEL PERSON...do not buy these munchkin cats...stop creating a demand for them...it's not humane...how would like to have two shortened legs?...get educated...these aren't natural breeds, they are accidental mutations
it was national evolution. the cat is still healthy. they would be like saying we should cut of the tail because "how would you like to have a tail?" all cats have accidental mutation. that's how you get the other breeds. maybe you need the education
if you believe in evolution, evolution is when something happens in the animal to make it better...these cats can't run as fast as normal cats so this isn't evolution...most likely the cat got some kind of radiation somewhere and something happened to it...
Radiation wouldn't pass on to future generations. This is a genetic mutation that occured naturally. They are now a registered breed of cat and function normally, they can still run and climb and get along fine.
Do you dissagree with the breed Scottish Fold, too? They're the result of a genetic mutation.
stop pushing you're beliefs on other people. whether or not people decide they want the breed isn't up to you. It's already been brought into existence so suck it up.
this cat suffer like all munchkin cats!! or like Yorkshire terrier.. that is no cat or the terrier no dog anymore.
They`re scared all day i know that my mum have 2 yorkshire... because of there smallness they`re shacking non stop and u say this is cute?! yeah this cat is cute... if it were a kitten but when it doesn`t grown up?!?! it fucked up! i think to "produce"that kind of cats is against humanity!!!!!!!!

No, the poor cat kept backing down because it's natural desire was to jump up. That's what cats do before jumping. Man has messed with these cats to breed them with short legs. It's cruel.
I have a crippled cat that can't jump, and it makes him 'sad'.
A cribbled cat. Yes I know it's a Munchkin, but in my opinion you should not breed cats that are deformed like that.
I thought japanese people were more sensible than that... I don't understand the fascination. It's not cute. The cat is reaching for the water, but can't reach that far.
that's just a waste of water.

@Octobereves you clearly know nothing about these cats. they're not disables. they're generally just as healthy as a normal sized cat.

Munchkin cats are just dwarfs. This occurs in most mammals. So people with dwarfism shouldnt have children either because they are deformed?
