i used to have a peavey wolfgang and loved loved the neck...i also beleave the wolfgang had a 15" radius neck...i was just wondering if the necks between the 2 felt the same at all...i was thinking of buying one of these san dimas but i want the wolfgang feeling neck...is it asymetrical like the wolfgang???any help would be great...chris
@chris12977 The EVH's are on the thivker side of things. I'd call that neck shape a soft, angled V. Theres more met at the bottom than there is at the top. The wold also has a smaller radius (9") fretboard. The charvel has a 12-16" radius fretboard and feels thinner, flatter and had larger frets.
@chris12977 The necks on the Charvel are second to none! They feel like they were given a ton of attention before they left the factory. The B.C. Rich is super nice for the price, I wish the neck was a hair thinner, but it is very playable. I like both, but the Charvel is a super high end guitar for $899. You would be happy with either one. Axis are crazy nice, I played a new Wolfie, and I was not impressed. Hope I helped.
@qwecars In general Id agree with you....but these guitars are almost equal in tone wood, pickup quality, neck quality and profile and trem............Ive got them both.
In all honesty...my Charvels mini grovers stripped out on 2 of the tuners. Id give quality about equal.......remember this isnt a Warlock like every wanna be rocker has....so be careful! This is an actual nice guitar........
as far as feel is concerned, the SD1 and So-Cal are equal. I liked the sound of the SD1 more. Don't know if this will help, but think of the SD1 & SD2 as late 70's to mid 80's sound aka VH, Ratt, and the so cal is better for later 80's aka Vai/roth, Poison.
Its an 80's hair metal type axe. I'm not into detuned chugging metal, so I can't tell you. It's a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, don't know if that helps you.
are these the stock pick ups?
