Great video, I'll make sure I've got it up when I finally get the darn screw out of the freaking panel holding in the hard drive. I may end up taking it to a computer shop just to get the darn screw removed. Thanks though for your video, and I did watch you unscrewing, thought maybe i'd get some screwing tips. Wow that sounds so wrong... Thanks!

Hey, i know how to change out the hard drive but my problem is it has vista on it. If i was to buy an OEM drive and buy Windows 7 is it just a matter of putting in new drive, installing windows with cd and bobs your uncle? I dont need to buy or do anything else to get it working again? Laptop is Toshiba Satellite p100-160
@felizidad1981 That should be it. I suppose you would have to deal with all the other crap that goes along with a new Windows installation, like verifying with Microsoft that you haven't pirated their software, and trying to get rid of the other shovelware that will probably be installed with it.
@felizidad1981 Dude u can't be fuckin serious.. Just download a free Ubuntu 11.10 and it comes along with a lot of pre-installed multimedia software and a software centre where u can install even more and IT'S ALL FREE!
I had a Toshiba L-510. I wish to remove my hard drive to backup my files to othes PC. I had unscrew and do so and I just had to remove the hard drive+the metal case from the crook. I see you just give a small push with your finger and the hard drive was detached on its connector easily (@1:35-1:38). But my hard drive feel more though to detach. I worry if I push it to hard my hard drive will be broken. How can you do that? Could you give tips? Thank you.
@DharmaHalimS I'm not familiar with that model, but there's a chance that there's another screw holding it in. That's how my HP netbook was. It had the four screws on the metal plate, and one big screw on the end of the hard drive case, holding it in place.
When I turn on my toshiba satellite c655 a black screen comes up after the toshiba screen that says: intel undi, OCR-2.0 (build 083) copyright (c) 1997-2000 intel corporation
For atheros pcie Ethernet controller v2.0.1.9(12/15/09)
Check cable connection!
Pxe-m0f: exiting intel pxe rom.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
Do you think this means that my hard drive has failed and would replacing it and installing the restore disks fix the computer? If so what brand/kind o
@JTuesday777 I'm guessing that probably your hard drive is damaged or there's something wrong with your connection. You could try booting from another device, like a Live CD or Live USB (Google "pen drive linux"). If you can get that to boot, you'll be running a temporary Linux-based OS from that device and should be able to mount your hard drive from there. If you can mount your hard drive and access the files, then your hard drive should be fine, and the problem is something else.
@SuperAiden101 If the new hard drive has no operating system on it, then you need to provide one. Personally I recommend Linux Mint XFCE, but it's really up to you to decide what you want to use. However, if the hard drive you're using is from another computer, you shouldn't need to install anything. The one I used was from a computer whose mother board crashed, and it already had Linux installed on it, so it ran just fine without having to change anything. Does that answer your question?
thank you for the vid, my toshiba hard drive kinda went faulty :l so i had to replace it.. (without knowing how) so this vid helped :)!!!!!
