Glass bowls are the best, just after a few sessions take it out, use tweezers or something and burn the resin off the screen, hell you could just smoke the empty bowl and just inhale the resin that built up, but it does taste kinda shitty..

No screen, the whole point of a bong is for it to punch through. use ice cubes (need ice catcher), screens are good when you're gunna smoke you're crystals.

Percolators are pretty easy to find at most head shops, the trick is to nab an affordable one if you're on a budget!

glass filters for sure... metal one leave a nasty taste, and use no filters at all you lost some of the green and the ash getting streigh into the ashcatcher or bong.

smoke with beelin if you want a better taste... torch, and lighter leave a bad taste ....

I like to use a metal/brass screen in my bongs for one: so I don't snap my shit before it's done and two: it keeps a good amount of the ash out of your bong and actually keeps it cleaner

And Personally, I have never had the chance to try out a glass screen, but I'd say you'd be fine off with the metal ones. They do their job perfectly, stay inside (unless you try to blow the ash out thru the mouthpiece like rambo), and they are uber cheap for like packs of the suckers.

I'm confused about your "filters" in a bong. I can see this being useful in a non-water pipe, but doesn't seem necessary in a bong.

Just pack bowls a bit differently, imo. If you can find a couple stemmy bits or hard bits off your bud just place those in the bottom and pack the bowl overtop normally. You should be able to smoke the whole thing to ash before it pulls through.

@KappyBabble ur piece looks fine. doesnt really matter if its dirty thats up to the person smokin it. no one else should care lol i clean my bowls n downstems a lot tho. the bowl to keep it from getting clogged up n it only takes a tiny bit of rubbing alc. in a plastic bag and shake then wipe down with paper towels.n clean the d/s's a lot to keep the bong a lil cleaner.it definitely helps. keep using glass screens... metal isnt all that good for u n they do leave a super weird taste. blaze on :)

you go with NO screens, instead of loading a full bowl, you load "snaps" and you snap all the ash through.

Also, you really need to keep your glass clean!! Go get some simple green and soak it all it, wash with hot water.

i think the best screens are either just pebbles/bits of gravel (just wash the dirt off them) or the glass screens that look like jacks or stars

I've got a friend who uses aquarium pebbles, and another who makes his own glass ones.

Personally I never use them. I just really don't see the need for it if you pack a bowl right. I usually keep about half my stash ground and the other half nugs. When I pack a bowl I get a small bit off a nug and "plug" the hole in the bowl, then put the ground weed on top. It's not wasteful and it's still easy to clear. It just takes a tiny amount of extra effort.

Glass, because metal screens gives off metal fumes when lit at high temps. Titanium screens would be your best bet if you're going the metal route.

Personally the best way is to have a bigger sized bowl with a large metal screen in it, i find they are the easiest to clean. I don't got an ash catcher but ill actually take a bowl without a screen to see how hard it is (never tried it lol).

But even with screens i clean them after about 6-10 bongs.

Here is the best advice i can give you. Get a beer bottle put it in a thick trash bag and shatter the bottle inside the trash bag and you have like 439 screens haha

I use no filter. I have a pipe with a very small hole centered bellow the mouth piece so ash never flys in. Also make sure to clean your bong frequently. Since I do this anyways I just dont worry about screens I like sucking it through.

a ya. I grind it put it almost never does anything fall through the hole when its green. weed is its own filter. Just clean your bong semi regularly because bad things can grow in the water that are bad for your lungs.

Fuck screens, hate them, waste of money and they are a bitccch to get out. what i do is I put just a pinch of weed in my bowl. I completely torch it and it'll leave some ash. the ash creates a filter and blocks and weed for being sucked down or anything. I find it works amazing, simple, fast, and its efficient so that's why I do it. Tr y it out once, tell me how you like it?

I use metal screens, but I get so poor at times and lazy that I MAKE screens out of soda cans and poke holes. Works just as good, but they have to be replaced each use. I used glass screens for a while, but I broke a few and didn't feel like buying them again.

But it's up to you and what you find is easier or better to deal with and enjoy.

@ableedingcorpse i would HIGHLY recommend not doing that man. You don't want that can burning even if it's just one use. I know how it is to be broke so you gotta think on your toes. Use tin foil. harder to burn and easy to replace and you won't have to worry about inhaling some shittt lol
