I understand the desire to affirm your biracial roots but I wonder whether to "one drop" oneself brings about more peace of mind. As an African, I use to live in Cliffton New Jersey and my family still lives there, but I live in London UK now and I am married to a European and for me, my experience with African Americans is their thought processes, things they like in normal day to day living is no different fron white Americans, I felt the same kind of descrimination from white Americans as I felt from African Americans, the same kind of igorance

The way some mixed kids feel about their race differs as they grow. I used to feel that I was white because I went to a predominately white school. Maybe that's the same situatiion with the little boy. My little cousin who's biracial used to say that he was white. He sees both sides of his family equally, but he lives with his white mother and goes to a predominately white school. Now that he's a little older, he identifies as mixed.

Yes, you get rid of the stigma by not focusing on race.
We are all people, and we need to work towards that. I noticed a trend lately with the media how they are making a lot of focus on certain issues being black.
That basically is pushing is back a few years.
Reality is racism is dying off with old folks, and the few passing it down to their children are dying off too....
I don't have all the answers, but focusing on divisive issues does nothing but polarize us more and fuel the fire.

Unfortunately the south still has a lot of hate and weird things, but even here a little bit north but still sort of south the bull does not fly.
CNN has really been doing some race baiting lately as well. I hope to see them called on the crap they are pulling. Putting black in america ads before footage of extremist black/white groups arguing.
CNN should be ashamed exploiting that filth and not showing normal people like us.

:) It does make sense in the context of which you put it but it also is a sad commentary about how "white" is considered to be comfortable and "black" is to lack and to be burden with a self hating pathology. It has taken me a while as a dark skin person to recognize that I am free to see the world as my oyster regardless of race dynamics.
