Doug the criticism from fans wasnt that Craig couldnt be funny cos he was good looking, the criticism was that he wasn't believable as someone who was a bit of a down and outer when he was 6 foot tall and perfect looking, a down and outer tends to let himself go not have biceps the size of mars and whitened teeth.

@bluejeckett yes but that's the point Doug was making- that there was a failure of the US writers to tailor the character of Lister as scripted to the actor, hence why he highlighted the problem with the Kochanski sub-plot being that someone as good looking as him should have no trouble getting a date from her or indeed having a pick of the women enough to not be interested in the uptight woman.
