Honda's philosophy is something to be admired, despite the fact it keeps their cars underpowered, compared to the competition. Perhaps Honda sees it's competition as creating the most eco-friendly, simple displacement, normally aspirated reliable engines, while still giving excitement to the driver. I love Hondas! Afraid to buy anything else.
NSXs are definately a special vehicle and was originally designed as an alternative to a porsche and entry ferraris at a lower price point. Not necessarally better and faster but definately in the same relative category. NSXs even today is still a very nimble and very lightweight vehicle not high Horsepower stock by todays standards but handeling is awesome!

@slurpy911, the driver of the CTS-V admitted (somewhere in this super long thread of comments) that once the NSX got up and started to run away from him, he backed off the gas. Also, the relative speeds may seem slow because the chase car, a Supercharged Acura CL 6-speed was flying himself.
The X w only ~4psi & small V6 spanks a Caddy w a Vette engine. And this was the weakest suit for the X, as a mid-engine, it's tops on track...history of taking Vettes there. The chase car is a 3.2L CL-S SOHC V6, also w 4psi... it's basically a fancy Accord...that kept up w the Caddy too...nothing for Govt. Motor's special division to brag about.

BTW, the equally commendable ride is the Gen 2 CL Type S, MT (the chase car), basically a souped-up Accord, also running a low boost Comptech supercharger...it hung in there with the Caddy! Not bad for FWD.
The whole reason I had my Caddy with this group is that I used to have a 2001 CL-S with every Comptech mod under the sun (blower with high boost pulley included). They are great cars and I still miss mine.

I just watched a Top Gear vid of the CTS-V smoking a Quatro v8 around their track. The Caddy had its suspension tuned in the Nurburgring in Germany. Oh and it still does 4.3 sec to 60 standard. Still lost though!

not necessarily. the new vettes have improved cornering, while although using outdated tech, it still works well. and the z06 would beat a nsx. i would still take an nsx becuause of its practicality over a z06

COMPTECH (CT-Engineering) is only mfgr of a supercharger for the NSX, and it only making ~ 4-5 psi of boost. Full-build with CAI/exhaust/supercharger would provide ~ high 300 hp flywheel range.
The CTS-V also looks to be modded...the exhaust doesn't look stock.
An NSX, even stock would have an advantage on certain tracks against any/all Vettes. The NSX enjoys inherent advantage of chassis superiority...it's a mid-engine design that superbly engineered.
The SC kit in the NSX was a prototype of their Autorotor version for the 2005 running a High Boost pulley. It wasn't fully tuned for this run as you can see by the plume of fuel on takeoff.
That NSX has to be very heavily modded because I have beaten my friends stock NSX in my V by several car lengths. Also nobody seems to be mentioning that the NSX got the inside track on a turn shortly into the race which makes a big difference. Still both great cars tho
That was my CTS-V. I had owned it for just a couple months and it was my first manual trans car...ever. The NSX had every Comptech goodie including their new (back in '05) blower. Definitely a high-12 second car. My CTS-V only had a Magnaflow exhaust which most say does nothing but change the tone. As we approached the corner I let up and then got back into it a second later. Wished we'd met up again after I added a supercharger (480whp/445wtq). Wouldn't have been good for the Acura ;)

That was my CTS-V and it was a 2005 model. Came stock with a naturally aspirated LS6 motor from the C5 Corvette ZO6. The only modification the car had in the video was a Magnaflow exhaust. The 2009 CTS-V is supercharged stock. I did eventually supercharge mine though. It ran 12.4@117mph with a best trap of 119mph and the outcome of the above race would have been much different since it made 480hp/445tq AT THE WHEELS.

My IT guy has a CTS-V and that is BAD FAST. Solid ride...no cushy CADDY bs there! 400hp 6 speed stick, HUGE brakes and rotors. I've been in fast cars and that V impressed me! So this NSX was pretty damn quick, NOT stock, no way would 290hp kill a 400hp V. That NSX has something!!
You can hear the supercharger in the NSX guys ! Comparing apples with oranges. A dated supercar with a new luxury sport coupe. Even stock , the Nsx is 700 lbs lighter and way faster on a 30 km/hr start , but if it's fun to make silly comments.... you are all succeding !
the supercharged nsx is a hell of a lot lighter then a cts, not to mention mid engine on a rear wheel drive chassis. the '09 CTS-V might have something else to say on the subject.
Yeah, the XLR is nice because it's a convertible hard top, auto at that. BUt I think the CTS-V might even have a little on the XLR-V.. never driven either but drooled over both :)
A stock CTSV and an FI NSX...if that CTSV had only a roots charger on it it would have killed the NSX. Stock for stock that NSX would have gotten smashed.

The 2009 CTS-V is supercharged, this video was shot in 2006 so it was the CTS-V with the 5.7L LS6 engine w/ 400hp stock

COMPTECH (CT-Engineering) is only mfgr of a supercharger for the NSX, and it only making ~ 4-5 psi of boost. Full-build with CAI/exhaust/supercharger would provide ~ high 300 hp flywheel range.
The CTS-V also looks to be modded...the exhaust doesn't look stock.
An NSX, even stock would have an advantage on certain tracks against any/all Vettes. The NSX enjoys inherent advantage of chassis superiority...it's a mid-engine design that superbly engineered.

There are twin-turbo kits that take the power level of an NSX past the 500hp mark.
And though the NSX does handle well, the Corvette C5/C6 is every bit of a much for it in the twisties, and will KILL it in acceleration.

The SC kit in the NSX was a prototype of their Autorotor version for the 2005 running a High Boost pulley. It wasn't fully tuned for this run as you can see by the plume of fuel on takeoff.

That NSX has to be very heavily modded because I have beaten my friends stock NSX in my V by several car lengths. Also nobody seems to be mentioning that the NSX got the inside track on a turn shortly into the race which makes a big difference. Still both great cars tho

That was my CTS-V. I had owned it for just a couple months and it was my first manual trans car...ever. The NSX had every Comptech goodie including their new (back in '05) blower. Definitely a high-12 second car. My CTS-V only had a Magnaflow exhaust which most say does nothing but change the tone. As we approached the corner I let up and then got back into it a second later. Wished we'd met up again after I added a supercharger (480whp/445wtq). Wouldn't have been good for the Acura ;)

Half of these posts are doubting how these cars were modded and I'm just restating the mods on the cars at the time. Some people are saying a the NSX is stock and that's just soooo far from reality. I was there, along with 3-4 others that have posted.

That was my CTS-V and it was a 2005 model. Came stock with a naturally aspirated LS6 motor from the C5 Corvette ZO6. The only modification the car had in the video was a Magnaflow exhaust. The 2009 CTS-V is supercharged stock. I did eventually supercharge mine though. It ran 12.4@117mph with a best trap of 119mph and the outcome of the above race would have been much different since it made 480hp/445tq AT THE WHEELS.

My IT guy has a CTS-V and that is BAD FAST. Solid ride...no cushy CADDY bs there! 400hp 6 speed stick, HUGE brakes and rotors. I've been in fast cars and that V impressed me! So this NSX was pretty damn quick, NOT stock, no way would 290hp kill a 400hp V. That NSX has something!!

You can hear the supercharger in the NSX guys ! Comparing apples with oranges. A dated supercar with a new luxury sport coupe. Even stock , the Nsx is 700 lbs lighter and way faster on a 30 km/hr start , but if it's fun to make silly comments.... you are all succeding !

Yeah, the XLR is nice because it's a convertible hard top, auto at that. BUt I think the CTS-V might even have a little on the XLR-V.. never driven either but drooled over both :)
