big pythons are divas they wont do anything on your schedule its when they want and how they want to worked with a 14 foot burm and she wouldn't come out or go back with out a fight 1 time she wrapped my arm and shoulder and constricted and dead weighted and fought me when i was putting her back in her cage.

ahahahahhahah "we been at this 20 mins." i would rig up a cage divider that separated the cage in half and clean one half then remove the divider and when he goes to the clean half put the divider back and clean the other half.

I got these 2nd hand. The one apparently had some weight on it (although I don't think it was another cage) before I got them so it bowed a little.

In reference to the wood... I was using it as a shim so that the 2nd enclosure would clear the lamp I had on the bottom cages vent.

Big Boy is gorgeous one sexy retic!!!! Reading your comments and the one about putting a piece of your clothing in with him is a great idea and it works well. Also I use hooks to let all my snakes know it's not food time but time to come out. I just don't use them for anything else. My big argentine boas were taught to back off with a piece of rolled newspaper or hand taps..

Yeah, we were still feeling each other out here and I had no provisions at the time to handle him other than my hands. Now I can spot clean his cage w/o much any issues although he ALWAYS knows where I'm at and what I'm doing. He almost always gives me a shrug when I first touch him but he knows now that it doesn't phase me.

Thank you for the comment and advice. Since the posting of this vid we have establised a great relationship as he was newly acquired when I made this vid. We were still feeling each other out so to speak. I have since acquired a jumbo hook as well. Only really need that when he drags his feet coming out of the enclosure. Everything else has been a great transistion for both the snake and myself.

May I give you a couple of pointer's so that You and your retic can establish a trust, and SAVE YOU SOME TIME instead of waiting for hour to see if he even wants to come out. Forget the 4' hook, if he is 11' now, he will only get BIGGER. Buy a jumbo hook, it's safer for you, and more comfortable for him (has bigger & wider hook to support him.

2nd. put one of your t-shirts in his cage and leave it in there; He will get used to your scent. Just want to help.

Thanks Jdmayock.. I think he's gonna max out between 12 and 14 ft. My female Yellowhead (she has vids too) will get around 17 ft on average. I don't "power feed" any of my snakes so they should stay right around the average for length and weight.

I have one on order. As I stated in my commentary, non of my retics are this big yet and I didn't have a big enough hook at the time he was acquired. This vid was my first week with him. Thanks for watching!

Isn't he? The hook I had was a toy compared to him so I have a Monster hook on order. He did eventually come out... knocking just about everything in sight over lol. He calmed down after about 5 minutes and was sweet as a kitten. Look for more vids coming soon. Thanks for watching
