A really romantic song which has a beautiful hypnotic melodic bass guitar. The words are so evocative...a truly great song by a band who were at their best and at their creative peak.
what a haunting tune ,NEW GOLD DREAM is such a clssic album ,then derick forbes left ,they became more sucsessful but more rockier ,but i suppose richer ...............
Like Elvis in '56, The Beatles during "Revolver" this Simple Minds performance is truly a band at the peak of their power. An effortless confidence. An amazing performance of a perfect song.
I saw the band in Australia on this tour it was in a small club half full they were amazing.I would rate it in my top 5 gigs. That great bass player left later and their sound went bland.I saw them with a session player a few years later and that spark was gone.Still love those early albums
Cet escroc de Guetta a repris l intro pour "the world is mine".Mais bon il est fan de Simple Minds et de Depeche Mode(sur cette meme chanson la voix ressemble a celle de Dave Gahan d'ailleurs)alor je pardonne =°)
This and I travel are my favourite FAVOURITE S.M's songs.
My brother had this on 12" vinyl and I begged him for it..I had to clean his room for a month before he gave it to me...Definitely well worth all that hoovering and dusting :o)
i took a closer look and you are wrong big time ! pink floyd with out the lazers would be boring and flat - queen are a good live act but thy never had the melodies and versatility of this band live !!! the minds are just about tyhe musice they don't need no million pound lazer show thats for sure !!! these are the best !!!
pink floyd is HUGE live, take a look at the pulse concert, of course they dont move but they are just " musicians" serving the music and the show, that's a epic experience, and you ogt the opposite, Queen, Freddie Mercury is the best frontman ever, he would run accross a stage taking a whole turn of a stadium and still sing perfectly and amazingly well, I love simple minds but I dont think they are better live than in studio unlike those bands
do you have any idea how many musicians helped pink floyd during the pulse concert and imagine without the light show and effects !! don't get me wrong and i have seen both bands live !! what do you think simple minds do they don't need no lazers and definetly play to the crowd !! as for queen i cannot relly comment as i have never seen them live and i would hazzard a guess nor have you ! juts look on here and type in book of brilliant things live !! in the ahoy 1985 i rest my case
Mick & Dereck we miss you

Jim kerr thought he was Simple Minds, never the same without Derek n Mick
jgemslie 4 years ago
Jim-Boy wanted to rival those ponces from U2...that lost him...The world would have been a different place with Simple Minds ruling stadium-rock...

@chra64 You mean the Beatles during the White Album times, don't you. Revolver was just the beginning of them finding themselves musically.
