I have this same model ibook, just received it a week ago and I'm enjoying this little machine. It's running leopard on 1gig of ram and it performs very well. It's not the fastest machine but is more than adequate for email, web surfing, and watching videos. It won't out perform the latest macbook, but if you are in the market for something small and light weight that is comparable to a windows netbook, this is the machine you want to get.
Are you aware that the iBook g3 video card can become unsoldierd, resulting in no video on the display nor the Mini Display/ Mini DVI ports. The reason for this is when you pick it up on it's left side, the case can flex. All that flex of the case and logic board can case it to become soldiered.
@Salamander6666 it actually depends on the specifications. there are around 20 versions (internally) of the ibook g4. i have two ibook g4s, and three ibook g3s. my first ibook g4 has an 800MHz processor and 256Mb of ddr RAM. my second ibook that i just got 3 days ago, has a 1.42GHz processor with 1.5Gb of ddr2 RAM. my second ibook outperforms my old ibook g4 and ibook g3s. infact, my ibook performs as well as my sister's macbook from 2007.
Actually, the latch is magnetic, but not like the Macbook or Macbook Pro. I just go one of these for $175 on ebay. It runs tiger, but I want to install leopard. Hopefully I can borrow an install CD from my school. 8 D
Are they worth getting because i would really like an apple laptop but don't have the money for a macbook even used + whats the most recent version of ilife can it run if you know ? :)
Will this computer do for stuff like taking notes in school?

if you share more memory with the 9550, you could watch HQ with less lag, I'd say 128mb or so would do the trick.
