  • Heard this song in the movie "The Boys In The Band (1970)". in a bar scene.

  • I'm just not convinced this is not Tammi. I listen over and over. I could me wrong, but it sure sounds like Tammi to me. I understand about her being sick and all, but I listened to a song with marvin and valerie and her voice is so different.

  • So Gooood !!!!!

  • Marvin's voice at the end gives me chills..

  • By the way, Marvin DID again record a duet after Tammi's transition. It was a while later, but he finally yielded to pressure from Motown to record an album with Diana Ross (what Diana wants, Diana gets). I believe it was called Love Twins, or something like that. Nice cuts on it, but nothing to equal what he had with Tammi.

  • I agree. This is Tammi and Marvin. I have listened to this album many times and though Valerie covers Tammi very well on some songs, there are definite differences in their voices. Tammi's voice is higher, clearer and more throaty. In response to her vocals, Marvin sings with loving abandon. He ad-libs, calls her "little girl". She calls him Marvin. Its clear that the lyrics are true for them. You can hear and feel the love coming from both of them. For me, their best duet. Nuff said.

  • If anyone here knows music ! And knows Tammi terrell voice~ This is not Valerie Simpson~ they sound nothin a like! NOTHIN!~Tammi has grit in her voice, Valerie tone is real flat~ You have to take in consideration she was very Ill!~ so she didn't have the power she did prior to her illness~the girl was a real talent and most of all a real trooper!~stop all these rumors! half the folks commenting these rumours were not even alive in the 60's~that's like saying David ruffin sang cloud nine~Nope!

  • R.I.P Tammi & Marvin.

Im sadly parting with my 12" Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - EASY which features this song.

So get on E- Bay and grab yourself a bargain....

  • We saw Ashford and Simpson at Liverpool in Nov 2010, in a massive show organised by David Guest it was great.

They sang Solid and did a medly of Marvin and Tammi`s songs. Thought they were magnificent especially Valerie

  • Yes Valerie did a good job she really worked making her voice sound close to Tammies.

  • just saw UNSUNG and am now very skeptical about this "Easy" album. by all accounts Tammi could barely walk into the studio by herself, and yet she recorded a whole album? yea, right.

  • @uncoverbrother Marvin Gaye stated that Tammi only appeared on 2 songs on the Easy album namely those 2 solo Tammi songs with overdubbed duet vocals by Marvin.

  • This isnt Tammi Terrell singing?

  • This is Valerie Simpsons voice !!

  • There voices were in love...

  • All I need now is a Cadillac, a young beauty, and the open road.

    Love it.

  • It's a shame that such talent is gone! Then you ask what happened to the good music? Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Valerie Simpson, and Nick Ashford are all good talents. I'd like to hear more of this kind of music though, it does sooth the soul.

  • Spot on tune...a lot of truth sung here. They sing like they really feel it...

Tammi and Marvin were amazing singers...

  • This song doesnt feature Tammi though ! This is Valerie Simpson. The third album ( Easy ) by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell included 12 songs of which Tammi only appears on 2 songs which were solo tracks onto which Gaye recorded duet vocals . The other 10 songs were Gaye & Valerie Simpson duets of which this is one. Royalties were given to Terrell who was extremely ill by this time.

  • @45rpmSINGLES I HEARD THAT BUT VALERIE SIMPSON DENIED IT.

  • @dlk008 who would you believe . Someone who was passing herself off as Tammi Terrell or MArvin Gaye her friend and lover who never again recorded a duet after she died

  • @45rpmSINGLES True!!!! It's good to see another Motown historian out there!!!

  • Very true words.Exellent words, good old fav song. God bless them both.

  • OMG!!!!! What a tune this is!!!

Nick and val are the best!

  • You don't find many bad Ashford & Simpson tunes!

  • @owzyafava DITTO DITTO DITTO. Perfection through a group of perfect musicians.

  • You're welcome. This was one of the 1st singles I ever bought.

  • Big fan of Motown & northern and this is an excellant track!!!....Thanks..Ve
