  • I throughly enjoyed this piece and all your other pieces for that matter. I saw someone in the comments ask you for a copy of the transcription you played. I also would be willing to donate as it is for my use only. I am a self taught memorizer and hoping to increase my skills this summer. Either way, thanks for sharing your music.

  • I really... really like this. I always wanted to know how to play the piano. Unfortunately, I never learned. How splendid I think it is, that you take the time to share your gift to the world. You've really put me at ease... you really, truly have.

    • And for that, I thank you... •

  • Magnifique!!! See... now you just gave me a boost to restart playing the piano which I had to give up for my work.. I just wish I could play that song as good as you are playing it.

  • i ' ve really enjoyed your solo !!! it's so emotional !!! i think it would be suitable for a film , too !!! I've posted a video-response of this song , i hope you'll enjoy !!

  • It was weird at first (I expected a jazz sound), but extremely beautifully and skillfully done.

    I subscribed! :)

  • i am really interested in synthology after hearing your videos. I own the rd700gx and for the life of me the piano sounds are just really lacking something...

i was curious since you obviously know what your doing....

all i need is a laptop, the software and my piano?

  • KancerStick, and a fast external hard drive and an iLok device.

  • You are a gifted musician. Thank you for this breathtaking performance!

I am an amateur piano player. Unfortunately I don't have the minimal transcription skills.....

I would be happy to donate in exchange for the sheet music (personal non-commercial use only).

    Thank you.

  • melodie ini bagus sekali di mainkan..sedih sekali.. terima kasih 7notemode !!!

  • thank you, you touched my heart with your gift, tears rolling down. It is so peaceful how you play. What a release of my stressful week at a new job. A sax player told me about this song at work, and now I can learn to sing it better. thanks! :)

  • it's wonderful!very artistic!

  • Thanks, musiclover.

  • Exquisite.

  • oooh cuanta paz....es hermosa esta versión

  • It is so emotional :~)

  • very skillful, way beyond jazz

  • i wish u would write the music down for this as well just like with round midnight ...im not really a jazz man strictly classical pianist but i luv your music gr8 stuff 5 starts

  • Thanks Violetking69. I'm learning transcription software, so I'm slowly moving in that direction ;-)

  • Do you mind if I transcribe it.

    Love the arrangement and key.

    Cheers

    Yves

  • Ives1964,

    Thanks, and be my guest.

  • I've had to simplify it a bit. I'll send it to you when it's done. Is PDF ok?

    Yves

  • Thanks Yves. I have sent you a p.m.

  • Excellent ....awesome playing.  A+++

  • ohmigoodness i just love this! its so relaxing

  • I love your playing...it is so refreshing to hear piano music like this. It's inspiring me to purchase Ivory as well.

  • absolutley beautiful. Is that your arrangement? It sounds like Joey Calderrazo's version from his Haiku album.

  • Thanks dhp1962. Good ear. I attributed this arrangement to JC in the description.

  • ah, that's under more info--got it!

  • Well done!

  • i love this it's so calming i just close my eyes and go to another place thank you

    beautiful!!!!!

  • You've moved this piece into an earlier century. It's lovely.

  • Great concept...making it sound like Chopin.

  • This has to be one of the most tender love songs written. I love your beautiful piano version. You make my day.

  • I just recommended this song to a friend to calm down from a fight, and even though I've listened to this so many times, we both ended with tears in our eyes. Simply beautiful.

  • Thank you so much for your comment.

  • nice left hand arpeggio's.

  • Lovely! My dad wrote this and I'm sure he would approve!

  • Thank you so much for your comment. Your kind words are very touching and meaningful to me. You have a wonderful legacy in this masterpiece of a a song that your father wrote.

  • Is your dad Guy Wood? I love this song and this is a lovely version. What else did he write?

  • Fab! Fab! Fab! thanks.

  • Beautiful

  • I think this piano sounds really good!! bout as close to the real thing as ur going to get unless u can afford a Yamaha cp300, excellent playing by the way very soothing

  • Wonderful Music

  • Sorry, just read your note on the improvisation.

  • Beautifully improvised and played, thanks for shareing it.

  • I dont like the sound of roland rd-700sx but you play so beautifully

  • Agree. He's a fine player, but that box sounds like a brittle used up Baldwin, found on the dusty stage of a tired old music college.

  • I remember when it was first released and lots of people I knew were harping on about how good the sound was "best stage piano out right now". I went to a shop and put it stereo through 2 KC-500 amps and after playing throuh most of the patches said to the shop assistant it sounded rubbish. He laughed and said I was the first person to say that. Ilaughed back and said bye bye

  • Full marks for playing (also in E) so sensitively and sweetly, also for the camera position, and using a superb Roland, I wonder what other sounds are possible. I always dream of a Chopin in electric piano mode.

  • magistrale interpretazione,grande atmosfera e grande trasporto,sei grande

  • 5 stars....you should write your chord patterns out for this its really something i like it, i am a classical pianist who is newly into jazz and i would love to learn this i learnt your "round midnight" gr8 job on that 2...but i had the sheets for that one

  • u make me wanna cry.. lovely.. warm..

  • Oh God it's so beautiful to come from a hard week at the office and listen to something so divine like this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Thank you for sharing this magnificent performance. It replaces Helene Grimaud's performance of Bach's Chaconne as my favorite of favorites.

  • Gracias.... desde Mexico! Very sweet...

  • its a stress reliever... so peace.. i wanna sleep i'm tired...

  • hello 7notemode..just wonderin..im 15 years old and love jazz piano..i play classical piano but have been teaching myself jazz just by listening to different pianists..was wondering how you learned how to play

  • passiveethero, I sent you a PM.

  • who are you,man..

  • im not a pianist or anything, but this is beautiful...

  • Amazing compositional skills! As a professional pianist I can appreciate this deep and thoughtful arrangement. The big plus here is the fact you used the key of E Major which is so delicious and bright and when it slides to C# Minor (Chopin's favorite key), everything just melts inside of the listener. Great work my friend.

  • O man...you really hits my soul with your interpretation of this lovely melody..thank you so much, chapeau!

  • I hear your interpretation over and over...and it really touch my heart..so smooth n sweet

  • I have always loved this song...from Coltrane/Hartman to Sonny Rollins ...but your's is one of the most moving...in fact, to tears just sitting here at the computer...thanks for something so lovely...

  • Thank you, Jackson842. I appreciate it.

  • I keep returning to listen to this lovely arrangement. The way you play the 'release', is reminiscent of Stephane Grappelli when he did this piece on piano, with Martin Taylor on guitar.

  • Great performance. As a matter of interest why do you chose not to play as a career?

  • To me, the beauty of this piece is the strong emphasis on the melody presented so simply by the right hand. The left hand subjects itself to the melody and does not compete but complements. It is absolutely gorgeous and deeply moves me.

  • I only noticed the dynamics issue on this song, though so I know it's definitely not *your* playing. Very expressive.

  • Very good playing. The only thing that sounds unnatural to me is the jumps in dynamics; the right hand suddenly jumps out and overpowers the left-hand during the melody. This might be a setting issue in ivory or maybe it's the keyboard touch-sensitivity.

  • I am not a pianist and know little about these keyboards. I don't understand the significance of the 'ivory setting issue'. Is the Roland is responsive to touch? I don't think older keyboads are. They played a note when you hit a key! I couldn't hear this 'jump' myself, except when it seemed intentional for emphasis maybe? John

  • You brought tears to my eyes with this. A lovely old standard, with superb lyrics. You transcribe it so it becomes a nocturne. I always maintain, the people who wrote these old standards knew how to listen to the great composers and how to interpret them. As indeed do you my friend. Thank you for this gem. 5 ***** . John

  • BEAUTIFUL melody man! WOW. This is like one of Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words.

  • More than beautifully done. Is it okay to say, you own this song. You give credit to other muscians, except when you play as well as this, it becomes your song. You humbly give credit to another performer, and encourage listeners to hear their version. I have often attempted to play nearly as well as you. If I were to play the same arrangement I'd have to say, "Listen to 7notemode's ... he is where I found the motivation to try." A very genuine 5 Stars from your humble audience. Thank you.

  • thank you,it's beautiful

  • Thanks. I use this tune and your rendition of it to put me in a Zen-like state each day. It is incredibly beautiful and quieting. Thank you.

  • Thank You!!

  • This is maybe the tenth (10th) time I came by to listening to this version of this song. There are multiple things which strike me ; firts of all, of course the beautifull song, but also the clarity in playing this song in a classical way, whith the so difficult left hand arpegios (yes, to my own frustration, i saw your "You Taught My Heart" as wel...), and also the sentimental touch created on a digital piano... I'm really stunned.

  • Thank you, pianojozz for such a touching compliment. I hope you decide to post some of your own playing soon.

  • beautiful music, I love the style you have played.

  • ah, and btw, could you upload mp3 file of your play somewhere? ^^

  • hehe, very nice! =)

what piano settings do you use for your RD-700SX?

  • I'm using Synthogy's Ivory, not an internal patch. I like the internal Superior Grand patch on the 700SX, though.

  • is it from Piano Collection SFX card for RD or software samples from MIDI-events? =) (sorry Im nub ^^)

  • Hello, great playing is beautifull song, do you have the Sheet Music of this song? please send to me comunidadlan of gmail acount Thanks!!

  • Sorry, no sheet music. I did it by ear. Joey Calderazzo does an excellent version.

  • theres something quite haunting about this....really nice

  • Lovely, you get an excellent vibe going with this tune. Very nice

  • Nice playing. Is that a stock RD700sx piano patch or are you using ivory again? :)

  • I used Ivory, steinway patch.

  • One of my favorite tunes, you play it wonderfully, lift from Calderazzo or not. There are certain tunes that lend themselves to a more 'classical' approach, one that springs to mind is I Loves You, Porgy...In fact, how about playing that for us?! Might do it myself. Love Keith's album 'The Melody At Night, With You'. Great playing!

  • Wonderful Version, played with a full calm of feeling. Great Work.

  • You most certainly inject tons of emotion into the playing of this - just beautiful. Joey is one of my favorites - I haven't heard his version though. Thanks for posting this totally calming and meditative piece. Great ceiling-cam shot too.
